“Following the remark, I wrote a letter to Hadi, via Selangor PAS commissioner Ab Halim Tamuri.

“Among others, I note that Hadi did not read in full and understand the gist of the sultan's speech during the National Council for Islamic Religious Affairs (MKI)’s 71st meeting in Putrajaya on Feb 15,” the sultan said in the strongly worded statement shared on the Selangor Royal Office Facebook page.  During the speech, the ruler had called for calm following the Federal Court’s recent decision to strike down 16 provisions of the Kelantan syariah criminal code.    

Elaborating, Sultan Sharafuddin, in particular, took offence to Hadi’s remark which urged the Malay rulers to have a vision and to be wise in viewing the hereafter, not just the interests in this world alone. “The remark is uncivilised and unsuitable from the cultural angle of the Malays who always respect and guard their manners when airing their views, and advising the Malay rulers.

“Hadi’s statement is not just confusing, but can also cause unrest, which can ultimately lead to division among the Malays and Muslims in the country,” said the sultan.    Sultan Sharafuddin noted that Hadi would have understood the real message behind the ruler’s statement had he taken more effort to read and understand the decree.

“Why is he (Hadi) now questioning the Federal Constitution’s status as the supreme law of the land when Islam had been recognised as the country’s official religion since the Constitution was enacted in 1957? “I would like to advise him to be more careful in the future and not repeat his acts of insulting the Malay rulers via his statements that can cause division among Muslims in the country. “I also urge all politicians and leaders to not use Islam as a tool for their political gain.”

Hadi violates his MP’s oath

The Facebook post was also appended with a copy of the letter written by the sultan to Hadi, who is also the Marang MP. In the letter, Sultan Sharafuddin asked that by questioning the legitimacy of the Constitution, Hadi was going against the very law he pledged to uphold during the various terms he had been sworn in as a parliamentarian.

“Does Hadi not respect the Federal Constitution as the supreme law of the land any longer?  “Does this mean that Hadi is deliberately playing political polemics to gain Malay, Muslim support?” The sultan then pointed out that it was not the first time Hadi had gone up against the Malay rulers.

He cited Hadi’s remark in March 2023, when the Islamist party president questioned the Terengganu sultan’s decree which barred politicians from giving speeches in mosques in the state. “Such statements reek of disrespect to Malay rulers who are the head of Islam in the respective states.

“It is worth noting that the Malay rulers have taken vows to uphold the Islamic religion and will strengthen it at all costs. “Thus, any party that wishes to reprimand or advise the Malay rulers on matters pertaining to Islam, must do it through the right channels and procedures,” said the ruler.

Esviel Hadi has been testing the waters and has got bolder and bolder in recent years. The political situation sort of gave him the freedom to say anything he likes without being held accountable. Lately his statements on the Judiciary and Royalty borders on sedition and contempt of court.

Anwar pretended to look the other way to avoid a confrontation. It is about time, Hadi and his 40 Thieves are put in their place before they contribute further to the downward spiral this nation wants to avoid. COMMENT | The death in custody of A Ganapathy will not be remembered by a mega rally or the spectacle of political operatives swooping around like buzzards in a funeral procession but with a shrug by an apathetic public, political class and the reality that there will never be any kind of reform of the state security apparatus.

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has publicly claimed that he was abused and assaulted to near death the night he was arrested so it is not as if the political elites in this country have no idea what is going on in the shadows of police lockups.  

Does anyone remember A Kugan? The Kugan case, like most flashpoints when it comes to the police or any of the enforcement branches of the state, reveals simmering race and class tensions.

The lies or misconduct of the first pathologist (which only warranted a reprimand) seemed like an apathetic shrug from the state as if Kugan’s murder did not even warrant a sophisticated cover-up.

UN estimates indicate that Kiribati could disappear in just 30 or 40 years. That’s because the average elevation is less than two meters above sea level. COMMENT | Recently, various PAS potentates, including PAS grand poohbah Abdul Hadi Awang, have been issuing diktats that PAS needs to garner non-Muslim support.

PAS Selangor leader Roslan Shahir Mohd Shahir said, “It is proven that DAP continues to incite and create fear among the non-Malays by portraying PAS as a violent extremist party.   

“In reality, the Islam championed by PAS is different. In fact, justice and well-being for all guaranteed by Islam is ensured for all. This is PAS’ objective.”

Really? A rational person can hold DAP accountable for many issues plaguing the country but the reason why non-Muslims fear PAS and indeed fear the rising spectre of theocracy in this country is because of PAS and the pusillanimous and enabling responses of this unity government.

The fact that Umno under Dr Mahathir Mohamad for decades demonised PAS and now he hooks up with PAS with his tail between his legs, is evidence of how the work of the religious bureaucracy enabled by the political elites has engineered a polity which is narcotised by race and religion.

Forget that the PAS president has claimed that non-Muslims control the government when they should be "pak turuts". Forget that various Perikatan Nasional representatives have made allegations that there is a Jewish conspiracy linked to political parties to usurp the rights of the Malays in this country.

The men then rode off into battle with the enemy. The men did not allow themselves to be taken alive either. By practicing Jauhar, the Rajput robbed their enemies of a glorious victory. One of the most notable instances of Jauhar occurred in 1303 at the Chittorgarh Fort, as mentioned in the epic poem Padmavat.

This fort is located in the northwestern region of the country and was one of the largest of its era. King Rawal Ratan Singh controlled this fort when Alauddin Khilji, the Sultan of Delhi, invaded. According to Padmavati the Sultan wanted Queen Rani Padmini for his harem. He sent a message to King Singh, offering to spare the fort for one look at the Queen.

The King agreed, and the Sultan was permitted to see the Queen through mirror reflections. As the Sultan was leaving, his army invaded the gates and captured the King. Hearing the news, the Queen agreed to join the Sultan’s harem on the condition that she could bring 700 women with her. These women were carried in palanquins, a type of wheelless carriage.

The Queen hid warriors in these palanquins and invaded the Sultan’s camp in order to recapture her husband. The practice of Jauhar is closely related to Sati, the Hindu practice in which a widow throws herself upon her husband’s funeral pyre to commit suicide. Because Sati is criticized and closely related to Jauhar, Jauhar has also been heavily criticized.

These criticisms are particularly common from people of non-Asian cultures and religions other than Hinduism. It is seen as dehumanizing to women because the act of suicide plays such an important role in the wife demonstrating her devotion to her husband. Jauhar has also been related to the Japanese act of honor suicide, the act of killing oneself to avoid defeat (as well as shame from certain actions).

Several years ago, we learned that a group of 13 Malaysians who left to join the terrorist group Islamic State (IS) to fight in Syria have been itching to return home.

The 13 were caught in the all-out offensive by the United States-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) against IS fighters in eastern Syria and some had contacted their families pleading to return home.

With this recollection, I hope that Bukit Aman will update Malaysians on the 13 known radicals if that has not been done. Many would have forgotten about it as this took place some years ago. 

Still, I also believe that Malaysians are keen to know the latest state of terrorism involving our citizens abroad. Apparently, some Malaysians are still on the terror-watch list of foreign security organisations.

Here’s an example. On Friday, PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man dubbed the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) placing three local Islamic NGO leaders on the Terrorist Screening Center list as “unsettling”.

He charged that the trio’s placement on the list reeked of foreign interference.

"The FBI’s act of labelling the three NGO leaders as terrorists is part of the US’ continued efforts to oppose those who help Palestinians," Tuan Ibrahim said in a statement

Many claimed that Taib was “responsible for uniting Sarawakians of all races, ethnicities and religions together”.

To be fair, the Sarawak people have always been a multiracial, multireligious community. Taib did not need to bring them together. Sarawakians were already united.

However, this veneer of harmony may not last long, if Putrajaya manages to export conservative teachers to Sarawak schools and conservative Malays for the Sarawak civil service.

• We will neither erect in our areas a monastery, church, or a sanctuary for a monk,
• Nor restore any place of worship that needs restoration
• Nor use any of them for the purpose of enmity against Muslims.
• We will not prevent any Muslim from resting in our churches whether they come by day or night,
• and we will open the doors [of our houses of worship] for the wayfarer and passerby.
• Those Muslims who come as guests, will enjoy boarding and food for three days.
• We will not allow a spy against Muslims into our churches and homes or hide deceit [or betrayal] against Muslims.
• We will not teach our children the Qur'an,
• Publicize practices of Shirk (polytheism),
• Invite anyone to Shirk
• or prevent any of our fellows from embracing Islam, if they choose to do so.
• We will respect Muslims,
• Move from the places we sit in if they choose to sit in them.
• We will not imitate their clothing, caps, turbans, sandals, hairstyles, speech, nicknames and title names,
• or ride on saddles,
• Hang swords on the shoulders, collect weapons of any kind or carry these weapons.
• We will not encrypt our stamps in Arabic,
• or sell liquor.
• We will have the front of our hair cut,
• Wear our customary clothes wherever we are,
• Wear belts around our waist,
• Refrain from erecting crosses on the outside of our churches
• and demonstrating them and our books in public in Muslim fairways and markets.
• We will not sound the bells in our churches, except discretely,
• or raise our voices while reciting our holy books inside our churches in the presence of Muslims,
• Nor raise our voices [with prayer] at our funerals,
• or light torches in funeral processions in the fairways of Muslims, or their markets.
• We will not bury our dead next to Muslim dead,
• or buy servants who were captured by Muslims.
• We will be guides for Muslims and refrain from breaching their privacy in their homes.'
• We will not beat any Muslim.

These are the conditions that we set against ourselves and followers of our religion in return for safety and protection. If we break any of these promises that we set for your benefit against ourselves, then our Dhimmah (promise of protection) is broken and you are allowed to do with us what you are allowed of people of defiance and rebellion.

COMMENT | At this point in time, it really does not matter if the DAP becomes MCA 2.0 because the religious far right is in ascension and the country’s trajectory is more or less settled. The DAP’s role is to ensure the opposite but all indications are that the party is not up to the challenge.

Former Bangi MP Ong Kian Ming, in a recent interview, made many conflicting statements which demonstrated how the sole non-Malay power structure in this country ultimately can never work productively with the mainstream Malay political establishment.

It is extremely arrogant for Ong to claim that what separates the DAP from the MCA is that “…leaders in DAP are still people who really want to serve the nation”.

Why is the BJP MODI government not passing a bill to free temples from the STATE government? ENTAIR INDIA ? Why are famous Hindu temples under government control ? Why should the government run Hindu temples? At the same time, Mosques and Churches, in India, are owned and operated by the respective religious organizations WHY?

CNN demonstrated this anew on Sunday when its reporting about a gang rape in Italy was focused not on the horror of the crime itself, but on how those all-purpose bogeymen, the “far right,” would capitalize upon it.  

CNN headlined its story this way: “An alleged gang rape shocks Italy, and provides fodder for an ascendant far right.” It was referring to an incident that took place on Jan. 30 in the Sicilian city of Catania. The Italian-language il Giornale reported on Feb. 3 that Catania was “in shock over what happened to a thirteen-year-old girl, raped by a gang of seven Egyptian boys in the municipal gardens of Villa Bellini, one of the two oldest gardens in the Sicilian city.” Three of the Egyptians were minors.

As far as CNN is concerned, that’s the problem. Its Sunday report asserted that the gang rape “has become not only a symbol of violence against women in the country but a cause célèbre for Italy’s far-right government.” The crime “was soon seized upon as evidence that migrants should be blocked from entering the country.” In Italy, it seems, the right-wing “seizes”; in the U.S., Republicans “pounce.”

Classical Sharia cannot be implemented in Malaysia because it would mean dispensing with our Constitution and Monarchy, and replacing it with a Caliph or Islamic ruler which presumably Hadi will appoint himself as. Our politicians, Judiciary and Monarchy have sworn to uphold the Federal Constitution. How is it we are seeing politicians like Hadi being given space in the media to talk down our Constitution which is clearly seditious?

Vijay47 : If Hadi Awang wishes to exhibit his mentality and level of intelligence with neon-lit banners and drone-displays in the sky, there is nothing we could do about it nor would we be in any way concerned. But when his statements take on a dangerous hue, when he openly incites people against the Judiciary, surely he has crossed all tolerable lines and needs to be brought to account?

Yet we see dead silence from those who should have rushed forward to allay the people’s fears by taking firm, immediate action. Hadi Awang has now urged “Muslims to rise and defend Islam against parties who try to divert them from the “real” religion”.

We might describe this as the ramblings of total insanity but we must also remember that his target group are people steeped in ignorance and gullibility who can easily turn to violence as the necessary response to “defend Islam”.

Hadi Awang’s instigation is the fourth in a growing line of incendiary trend; we had the explosive device in Siti Kassim’s car, the Molotov cocktail attack on Ngeh Kam Hoo’s house, and the death threats against the lady lawyer and her daughter. Shockingly, nobody has been arrested and charged – those behind the death threats “have been identified but not yet apprehended”.

Anwar Ibrahim indeed has a strange way of being prime minister and calming the nation during such treacherous times as we have now. Perhaps he believes that remaining quiet will be an elegant way to keep the situation safe. There is no sight nor sound of him when he should be in the forefront fighting the extremists.

And that IGP? Perhaps he needs a respite from the strenuous efforts he took against Tony Pua. In the meantime, Hadi Awang continues in his ways, fanning the embers that may soon see Rome in blazing flames.

In 1948, following Israel’s declaration of independence, five Arab nations launched a genocidal war to destroy the nascent Jewish state and annihilate its Jewish population. Despite overwhelming odds, Israel managed to repel the Arab invasion and preserve its independence. 

Because of this war, hundreds of thousands of Arabs—who would later call themselves “Palestinians”—found themselves homeless. Hundreds of thousands heeded the commands of Arab leaders to leave their homes, with the promise they could return pending extermination of the Jews—a promise unkept to this day. 

But two sad, disturbing questions—almost always ignored by the media—loom: Why do more than a million Palestinians still live in refugee camps after 75 years? How could the number of refugees—just some 700,000 in 1948 (and most no longer alive)—magically mushroom to seven million today?

One thing we know: The world has avoided chronic war refugees because historically, the international community, especially the United Nations, has supported and directly taken on refugee resettlement. 

Surely no group desires a perpetual refugee crisis? Surely no Arabs would decline to help their Palestinian brethren rise from refugee status? As we examine the Palestinians’ plight, we see that decisions made by themselves and Arab leaders begin to answer those profound questions in strange, troubling ways.

In fact, the Arabs, not Israel, are responsible for creating the Palestinian refugee crisis. They rejected the U.N. partition plan for Palestine in 1947, because they refused to accept a Jewish state in what they regarded as Arab, Muslim land. Then, they invaded Israel, attempting to destroy the new Jewish state and its Jewish population. Note that without the Arab attack on Israel, there would be no Palestinian refugees at all.

During the war, Arab leaders ordered their kinsmen to evacuate, promising they could return after their armies had decimated Israel and the Jews. Some Palestinian Arabs also fled after hearing false Arab propaganda about Israeli atrocities. In short, the vast majority of the Palestinian Arab population was not forcibly expelled.

How bizarre is this coverage? Here’s what normal coverage of a hostage rescue looks like

But the media has stopped pretending that its concerns are anything other than the lives of Hamas terrorists. Except that it refuses to actually say the words. Instead, in keeping with the same distorted framing we hear from the likes of AOC or Bernie Sanders, no distinction is made between Hamas and “Palestinians” or “Gazans.”

All of this has been passed along to the Biden administration. Here’s the CNN coverage of that:

“The Biden administration is deeply concerned about an Israeli operation that rescued two hostages out of Rafah but may have also resulted in some one hundred Palestinians being killed as part of that operation, according to a senior administration official.”

We’ve gone from dozens to 67 to a hundred. By next Wednesday, it’ll be a thousand.

“For now, United States officials are still gathering information on details of the rescue operation, including how exactly the operation unfolded and how many civilians may have been killed, that official said. But such a high rate of Palestinian deaths would be deeply worrisome, according to the official, and comes as U.S. President Joe Biden and US officials have been warning Israel about their preparation to make a ground incursion into Rafah.”

High rate of what? Hamas claims 97 dead. Who were those 97? How many of them were Hamas? Don’t ask the media, which is not concerned with such questions or distinctions. All it does is repeat Hamas propaganda. Two hostages were rescued from Hamas, but all the media cares about is protecting Hamas.

They fought bravely with the terrorists that set their house on fire. And barely manage to escape the blaze, hiding, injured, until they were finally rescued. The poor baby.....can't stop tears falling when i saw the dad reaching out to hold his daughter....and then they say the attack was all fake. Monsters deserve hell. It reminds me of people liberated after the Shoah. You are a very, very brave couple, with a beautiful daughter. I pray you will eventually recover both physically and emotionally, and will lead happy lives.
