Rudyard Kipling"
“When you're left wounded on Afganistan's plains and
the women come out to cut up what remains, Just roll to your rifle
and blow out your brains,
And go to your God like a soldier”
General Douglas MacArthur"
“We are not retreating. We are advancing in another direction.”
“It is fatal to enter any war without the will to win it.” “Old soldiers never die; they just fade away.
“The soldier, above all other people, prays for peace, for he must suffer and be the deepest wounds and scars of war.”
“May God have mercy upon my enemies, because I won't .” “The object of war is not to die for your country but to make the other bastard die for his.
“Nobody ever defended, there is only attack and attack and attack some more.
“It is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died. Rather we should thank God that such men lived.
The Soldier stood and faced God
Which must always come to pass
He hoped his shoes were shining
Just as bright as his brass
"Step forward you Soldier,
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My Church have you been true?"
"No, Lord, I guess I ain't
Because those of us who carry guns
Can't always be a saint."
I've had to work on Sundays
And at times my talk was tough,
And sometimes I've been violent,
Because the world is awfully rough.
But, I never took a penny
That wasn't mine to keep.
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep,
The Soldier squared his shoulders and said
And I never passed a cry for help
Though at times I shook with fear,
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.
I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fears.
If you've a place for me here,
Lord, It needn't be so grand,
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't, I'll understand."
There was silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod
As the Soldier waited quietly,
For the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now, you Soldier,
You've borne your burden well.
Walk peacefully on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in Hell."
Major Ismail Salleh - PGB & Lt David Fu Chee Meng - PGB, In A Battle At Tanah Hitam
Saturday, November 26, 2005
Sharpened stakes were driven into the ground, near the fire trenches. The trenches were very well camouflaged, it would have been very difficult to spot them unless a very close reconnaissance was conducted. Claymore mines were laid facing the probable or likely direction the enemy would approach, the M57 (firing device for claymores) was held by LCpl Abdullah, who was the commander of the GPMG (Mag 58) team. The soldiers having not bathed for the last 4 days, on the 27th August 1970, approached Lt David to request permission to have a bath.
Left : Claymore Mine (click on image to enlarge)
They were not allowed as their OC, Major Ismail had instructed, that no one was allowed to do anything until the Enemy had arrived and they had destroyed them. As the Enemy were expected to arrive at anytime. They were told in no uncertain terms that all movement must be minimized to maintain secrecy. They were not to be too far away from their fire trenches.
At around 1000 hours that day whilst they were cooking for lunch some soldiers decided to fry their combat rations for lunch, releasing an overpowering smell. Lt David blew his top and was furious, he told the soldiers to cease and desist, as the smell could carry far away, which would give away their hard built location. After lunch normally some of them would nap. An ambush is like going on a fishing trip. Some of them engaged in conversations, boredom is one of the early visitors in an ambush. At around 1500 hours they got another round of shelling from Lt David, this time for boiling water, which was done out of the allocated cooking time, the serious part being he could smell the water being boiled.
As they were sitting and engaging in an aimless conversation the distant sounds of twigs and bamboo being stepped upon carried to their ears. The never ending sounds were continuous, were coming towards their way. One by one they leapt into the fire trenches. After some time a figure was seen observing the area, the figure was the enemy’s leading scout, must have heard something to discomfit him. The enemy looked carefully, scanning the area in front of him, apparently he must have heard something.
The Enemy halted around 35 yards from the foremost trench. He stood in front of the claymore mine. The second enemy scout moved forward to the leading enemy scout, who was carrying two weapons. The third and fourth enemy had stopped in their tracks. Another group of the enemy, who were behind the third and fourth enemy, moved forward. Continued here....
Today I am not blogging about the Military, about heroes in the Malaysian Armed Forces. I will blog about villains who tarnished the good name of the country. One has to realise that soldiers get killed, maimed and traumatised along with loneliness, separations, lost love and destroyed lives in the service of the nation, not expecting much in return. They created the peace in Malaysia. Some in the Police Force, think it's okay to keep on protecting the "SICKOS" in the Police Force who are destroying the image of the country, OUR COUNTRY, Malaysia.
"Eerie Parallel to Abu Ghraib", from Jeff Ooi's blog at Malaysiakini. That captured my attention. Some deny, some get offended by that statement. It has a parallel, i.e. Abu Ghraib is in a War Zone, a conquered people being imprisoned. Brutality is part and parcel of all wars throughout the Centuries.People living under constant threat of being killed or maimed behave differently.I would like to say, "People who live in glass houses should not in future, hurl boulders". It tends to come back to you in a very BIG way.
In the "Abu Ghraib" of Malaysia, it was done in 'peacable' Malaysia against a Tourist. Can you imagine what would have happened to that poor lady, had she been detained in a "War Zone, in Malaysia" ? The real Abu Ghraib would have been put to shame. A helpless female being humiliated by the people who are supposed to serve and protect. Whether we like it or not, the Royal Malaysian Police have abused and humiliated many, the list is long.
The question now is, why is the IGP not even squealing, getting the Deputy IGP to act as his front man. The Deputy IGP, instead of getting the culprits and checking out all previous abuses, goes out emitting threats to the GOOD Man or Woman who did the recording. How do we expect Malaysians and the world to respect these pathetic individuals who head the Police Force ?
With Leadership comes responsibilities, take responsibility for the crimes of your subordinates, how you train them, is how they would behave in the field. I guess training is something YOU DO NOT LOOK INTO. Hello the Inspector General of the Royal Malaysian Police, please "Sound Off Like You Have a Pair", the Rakyat are awaiting your response which has only resonated with a very LOUD SILENCE !
For the stupidest and most idiotic statement, by the Deputy IGP, “There will not be any cover-up, and anyone involved in any illegal activity, like recording or even using a phone in a restricted area, will be brought to book.We will not hesitate to dismiss them. ".
This is a deliberate and shameless attempt to shoot down the WHISTLEBLOWER!!!!!!!! We the Rakyat, get to be kept in the dark. No one will know and the abuses will continue with impunity. For examples, Google Custodial Deaths In Malaysia.
For the Politicians who are in charge of these low lifes, stop giving pathetic excuses, STOMP on the Police Chiefs backs, put them on the Red Carpet, ask them to explain in not less than 150 words why they should not be sacked. If you politicians, are not up to it, please have the balls to resign your posts, let someone who are more efficient take over your pathetic reign over these scumbags who call themselves POLICE !!!
Contact At The Kinta Forest Reserve - Captain Mohana Chandran al Velayuthan (200402) SP, Ranger Bajau ak Ladi PGB & Cpl Osman PGB
Friday, November 18, 2005
A combined group was inserted into the operational area on the 3rd June 1971. Commanded by Captain Mohana Chandran al Velayuthan (200402) and assisted by 2LT Donald Patrick John (2000913), both who, were from the 4th Rangers.
Left : Captain Mohana Chandran al Velayuthan (200402) Aged : 24 years old. A role model for Officers of the Ranger Corps.
They moved for about a week in the area looking for enemy traces guided by the SEPs'( surrendered enemy personnel), who were mostly Chinese. During one of their outings on their own, escorted by the Rangers, they came upon an "Orang Asli" (Original People of Malaysia) settlement. The SEP's were familiar with the settlement and knew the people from this settlement. The SEP's managed to get some information from the Orang Asli. The rest of the group was not far off. They came back and said this," Friends, If you all want to be safe, it's better not to go"("Kawan kalau mahu selamat lebih baik tidak usah pergi"). To which Rgr Abang Bolhi bin Abang Din replied, "How can we do that, it is up to our Officer?"("Mana boleh buat apa, itu terpulang kepada Pegawai saya").
"As I fired in the direction of the enemy, the enemy too, fired in my direction. I was hit in the left palm of my hand. The bullet penetrated my palm and came out. One more round went through the back of my right arm pit and came out through my right chest. The blood gushed out. I told myself, "God ! I am dead," thinking about death this time around. I fell and rolled downhill. As I rolled downhill I lost a magazine of rounds. In that instant Captain Chandran moved quickly to cover me, from being hit some more, by the direct enemy fire. He started firing on the enemy, from his cover to save me and keep the enemy's heads down. As soon as I had reached the bottom of the hill, I was being embraced by Rgr Bajau who was asking me, "What's happening Bolhi?" I was in a daze, I replied, that I was dying and that I was shot. Rgr Bajau ak Ladi on hearing this released me and immediately started firing uphill ".
Right :This is a Bren Gun, a LMG is a modified bren, the magazine in an LMG is straight unlike the bren which is curved. One can actually see the word Bren etched into the metal which is crossed out.
He swapped his sterling for Ali's LMG. He heard Captain Chandran yelling " Section 1, to the left. Section 2, to the right. Attack ! Attack ! Attack ! Giving his orders clearly and cooly. Continued here...
In Malaysia the Browning pistol is no more used as it is considered obsolette.I carried a HKP9S riding on my thigh. I do not detach it at anytime, it is like part of me. The M4A1, yes I could leave it at an arm's length, not the pistol. That's the furthest I leave my rifle. I have two M73 grendes with me at all times. The threat is always there. You have a pistol on the thigh, not because it's the fashion, it enable one to make a quick draw. The cowboys got that right.
Right : The HKP9S, which rode on my right thigh, most of the time.
It uses 9mm rounds, has a 9 round magazine. I beat a US Special Forces A Team Leader who was using a Beretta in an unofficial shooting competition by 3 points. Yes, we used 2 magazines, loaded with only 6 rounds each. The Beretta's magazine holds 15 rounds. The shoot was coducted using the Figure 11/59 target, at 25 meters under 25 miles per hour wind conditions along a beach in Somalia off the Indian Ocean. The bet was for a case of Macabee beers (Israeli). Captain Dan Maroun of the 2nd Battalion, 5th Special Forces Group, if you are reading this, you still owe me ! I beat one of West Point's best. Battle At Muara Tebas - 2Lt Baharin Abd Jalil - PGB & Rgr Lan ak Gima - PGB
Friday, November 04, 2005
After giving these instructions he laid the butt of his sterling sub-machine gun on his stomach, with his barrel level to the ground. As the enemy turned around and exposed themselves. He let them have it. He swung the barrel of his machine gun from left to right. The contact occured at GR 506807 at around 1000 hours on the 17th March 1971. After emptying one magazine, he stepped into cover to reload, it was Rgr Lan's turn to open up with his HBSLR. He quickly changed his magazine whilst Rgr Lan was firing and started yelling, "Charge !! Charge !! Charge !!". Both of them assaulted the enemy position with the 2Lt assaulting on the left of the enemy position with Rgr Lan on the right. He ordered this attack as he was too close to the enemy, an this was an opportunity which was advantageous to him and Lan. The enemy was shocked and surprised when they saw the Rangers charging down on them. Some ran for their lives, others who were slow died, killed by the formidable duo. After the shooting stopped they lay quietly to see if any of the enemy was still moving.
Left : The HBSLR
There was no returning fire from the enemy. Seeing that no more of the enemy was left standing, he ordered Rgr Lan to cover him whilst he conducted the search. He cleared one dead enemy after another. As he was counting the enemy dead bodies, he saw an enemy in the prone position, thinking in his heart,"This one is dead". The enemy in the prone position suddenly, moved, to the kneeling position and lifted up both his arms. Maybe he was asking for mercy, 2Lt Baharin, who was by now very excited and nervous, fearing for his life and that of Rgr Lan, kicked him, sending him sprawling, the enemy got up again and lifted his arms, he opened up with his sterling sub-machine gun emptying the magazine into the enemy. The enemy lay dead at his feet. He remembered the Katibas Ambush, where the people he knew were killed. It's hair trigger reaction in battle, kill or be killed. Continued here....
