A bystander found the woman lying at the base of the escalator at Fabre metro station in east-end Montreal around 9:15 a.m. He alerted transit workers, who called police.

A German Catholic leader was forced to apologise Jan. 29 over comments that sparked indignation among the country's Muslim community and proponents of a multicultural society.

Cologne Archbishop Joachim Meisner, 80, had praised the high birth rate of many Catholics, telling followers: "I always say, one of your families to me makes up for three Muslim families".

The head of the Turkish Community in Germany, Kenan Kolat, said Jan. 29 that the comment strained Muslim-Christian relations in Germany. Bekir Alboğa of the Turkish-Islamic Union DITIB said the comments promote "fear and misunderstanding", telling broadcaster Deutsche Welle that "we need a bridge-builder, not a polariser."

Many politicians also strongly rejected the comments, among them Sylvia Loehrmann, state education minister of North Rhine-Westphalia where Cologne is located. "Rating the relative value of families and therefore children by origin or religious affiliation not only violates our constitution, it is also anything but Christian," she said.

The archbishop - who has in the past likened abortion to Nazi crimes - later said he regretted having caused "irritation" and that "it was not my intention to offend people of other faiths." "My choice of words in this case was perhaps unfortunate," said Meisner, who is expected to retire next month. In this case, the Council on American-Islamic Relations was listed by U.S. prosecutors as an "unindicted co-conspirator or joint venturer" -- although no charges were brought against CAIR. CAIR felt this listing was unfair.

Anwar and PKR are doing this because they think that the rakyat are lost for choices. They have in their mind that the rakyat will not abandon them. We must kick Anwar out early, so has to give PKR a rude awakening, not to take the rakyat for granted. You will actually be doing them a favour in preparation for the GE-14.

Not to forget, Khalid did not do a bad job in managing state. If Anwar chooses to take over as menteri besar from Khalid, he would be attempting to better a very tough act. With such high financial benchmarks already set in the state, would it bode well for a former deputy prime minister as well as former finance minister to perform anyway less than twice as good as Khalid?

It has everything to do with "Anyone But UMNO". It must have gone to their head. Khalid runs the state with the rakyat in mind, he makes the rakyat happy, PKR politicians in turn are not happy, as they cannot get their fingers into the till. Why fix something that is not broken?

Definitely there are dubious motives in play, by the PKR elites. Even the polls conducted on Khalid by The Star, on the 29th January 2014, states that  he is even more popular than Anwar. Out of 2,125 respondents, 43% of them, numbering in 915 voters, favoured Khalid to continue to helm the state.

“He has shown good governance, something that is sorely lacking in other Malaysian leaders. He should continue as MB despite the calls for him to do otherwise from his detractors,” said one voter. With 24% of the vote, Pandan MP Rafizi Ramli was a distant second with 497 supporters.

Opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who has been named by PKR as its candidate in the by-election, only managed to take third place with 450 or 21% in his favour. Trailing behind him was PAS’ Cempaka assemblyman, Iskandar Abdul Samad, with only 172 votes or 8% in his favour. Gombak MP Azmin Ali, who garnered only 91 votes or 4% of popular support, came last.

There was also a Merdeka Center poll some years back where Khalid was shown to be a more popular leader than Anwar? If so, Anwar would be one hell of an unhappy person. The problem with PKR is, it is mostly like UMNO, in that it is an extremely feudal party.

So what has UMNO to do now? Tell off that party of porn stars to not contest in Kajang. Listen to Oxford Kari, after all, MCA are boot lickers. Next get "Tempe Face" the one time wannabe UMNO candidate for the Mentri Besar of Selangor and charge him for corruption. “Cairo, Coptic Orthodox church attacked. One dead,” from Asia News, January 29 : Cairo – A group of armed men yesterday afternoon attacked the Coptic Orthodox Church of the Virgin Mary in the “October 6″ district of the governorate of Giza.

Police responded to gunfire and one officer died in the shootout, while two others were injured. The residents were able to stop the car carrying the attackers and stop one handing him over to the authorities.

His accomplice was arrested a few hours later by officers. The two attackers are Mohamed Abdel-Hamid Ibrahim and Ahmed Mohamed Abdel-Rahman, both active in Islamic extremist groups.

Such a reformation is certainly urgently needed, and even in calling for it, Sisi has gone much farther than the Muslim Brotherhood scion Ramadan ever did.

PKR is an UMNO in the making. With the support of the Non Malay parties UMNO became a virtual Dictator. The current spat within PKR, is exactly like UMNO's.  For PKR, they can get out of UMNO, but they cannot take out the UMNO in them. The whole problem in Selangor is a clash of personalities. The poor well performing assemblyman Lee Chin Cheh was apparently forced to resign, for he had no baggage or scandals, unlike most Malay PKR stalwarts with their baggage of an UMNO past.

Daily Mail : A takeaway worker faces deportation after he was jailed for raping a 12-year-old girl who was out past her bedtime.

Mohammed Hussain, 28, was driving home from work with two colleagues in the early hours in Leeds, West Yorkshire, when they spotted the group of four girls in a park.

Afraid to go home because they had broken their parents' curfew, the girls were enticed back to the home of one of the men. There they were offered cannabis and played pornographic films before two of the girls, both 12, were taken upstairs. Hussain raped one of the 12-year-old girls while she asked him to stop, Leeds Crown Court heard.

One of his two colleagues, 30-year-old Harris Uddin, tried to remove the trousers of the other girl but stopped when she asked him not to. The four girls - two aged 12, one aged 11 and one aged 13 - were at the home of the third takeaway worker, 28-year-old Shah Miah.

Although he did not assault the girls himself, he was jailed for helping arrange the attack after he struck up conversation with them. He is also now serving a four-and-a-half year sentence for sex offences against three other children. Read it all here.....

The woman 23, told Sydney's Central Local Court on Tuesday that Rubel Sheikh, 25, stopped her on the way to Ashfield train station in Sydney's inner west on July 17 last year and told her "adamantly" to take the lift to the platform.

Once the two were in the lift, the woman, who is legally blind and uses a walking cane, said she felt something small drop between her breasts, followed by Sheikh allegedly saying in an "awkward" tone: "It is okay. It is very sexy."

She said Sheikh followed her up to the platform, into the train and then followed her once she got off at Gymea station, where she met her mother. While she was waiting for the train at Ashfield, the woman said she again felt something drop between her breasts.

She said that once she was on the train, she felt someone twice put their hand into her bra and touch her breast and touch her inner thigh. The man allegedly told her it was "okay" and asked for a "goodbye kiss". Read it all here........

The National Council of Canadian Muslims has filed a notice of libel in the Ontario Superior Court of Justice that accuses Jason MacDonald of acting maliciously when he made the comment earlier this month. The council had criticized the inclusion of a controversial rabbi in Harper's delegation that went to the Middle East last week.

The libel notice quotes MacDonald as saying, "We will not take seriously criticism from an organization with documented ties to a terrorist organization such as Hamas."The National Council Of Canadian Muslims is the bastard offspring of CAIR-Can. “After 2008, the Umnoputras decided that the Muslims could be confused and started fomenting fear and mistrust between them and non-Muslims. “Where no fear existed previously, the Umnoputeras planted the seeds of fear. That was when the problems started.”

As per the court, only Muslims can use the word Allah and Malay-speaking Christians have to forego their centuries-old practice of calling God Allah. What do you call this, the authorities’ attempt to distract Malay Muslims’ attention, who constitute 60 percent of the population, from subsidy cuts and rising cost of living, or is it simply a case of narrow-mindedness to pit various religious groups against each other to perpetuate the grip over power.

Remember the May 13, 1969 tactic of kicking out the then-PM Tunku Abdul Rahman? Why Penang? It’s obvious, isn’t it? It is a government headed by ‘Chinese’ DAP (as though in the past the Gerakan-led BN government was not Chinese).

See the pattern. Penang Umno acted like samsengs to protest against the kangkung flash mob incident, turning it into a racial issue. And the Penang Umno involvement - though it has distanced itself from some NGOs - in the memo protesting the open sale of pork on the island.

Perkasa then closed in for the ‘kill’ - unprecedentedly now attacked Najib on his ‘Allah’ stand. The target had been identified - just in case some Umno members under its extremist wing are clueless. Another unheard of act; over 1,000 Umno grassroots members presented an unusual show of force to its leaders (actually the message is for Najib) at the party HQ urging the PM to be sterner on non-Muslims using the word ‘Allah’.

Next came the controversial banners with words ‘Jesus is the son of Allah’ hung up outside of churches. Is it the penultimate act - two Molotov cocktails thrown into the compound of a church? A Middle Eastern refugee who grabbed, groped and licked female joggers on a popular running route in Christchurch has today avoided jail and been granted permanent name suppression.

The family of the man accused of being “The Port Hills Groper” fears he’ll be ostracised by their Muslim community if his identity is revealed, a court was told today.

The 2013 death toll, which is expected to rise further as new cases come to light, is likely to spark a fresh wave of concern over the treatment of migrant workers in Qatar and increase the pressure on Fifa to force meaningful change.

According to the documents the total number of verified deaths among workers from Nepal, just one of several countries that supply hundreds of thousands of migrant workers to the gas rich state, is now at least 382 in two years alone. At least 36 of those deaths were registered in the weeks following the global outcry that followed the Guardian’s original revelations in September.

The revelations forced Fifa president Sepp Blatter to promise football would not “turn a blind eye” to the issue following a stormy executive committee meeting. The Qatar ministry of labour hired law firm DLA Piper to conduct an urgent review and Hassan Al Thawadi, chief executive of the World Cup organising committee, said the findings would be treated with utmost seriousness, vowing the tournament would not be built “on the blood of innocents”.

The DLA Piper report is expected to be published in the coming weeks. “Fifa and the government of Qatar promised the world that they would take action to ensure the safety of workers building the stadiums and infrastructure for the 2022 World Cup.

This horrendous roll-call of the dead gives the lie to those reassurances,” said a spokesman for the PNCC. “These were young or otherwise able-bodied men, with their futures in front of them, families at home and everything to live for. 2 LDS sister missionaries attacked in Kosovo (Fox 13 Now, Nov. 13, 2013) SALT LAKE CITY — Two American missionaries for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints were attacked in Kosovo; it happened in the city of Pristina ten days ago, but news reports of the beating just surfaced late Wednesday afternoon.

Senior members of Dansk Folkeparti (DF, Danish People's Party) espoused the opinion that there are enough Muslims in Denmark and border controls should be established to stop more from entering the country.

DF’s defence spokesperson Marie Krarup said that the time has come to completely halt Muslim immigration.

“We should limit the size of the Muslim minority in Denmark,” Krarup wrote in a blog for Berlingske newspaper. Espersen did say that he felt many Danes, especially those who live in the country away from the major cities, are uneasy with the amount of Muslims coming into Denmark. “They look at Sweden, France, England and Germany and do not like what they see,” he said. JSS News said police counted 17,000 protesters (the protest groups claimed they numbered 120,000). 150 were arrested and 19 policemen suffered injuries, including one who was seriously wounded, according to AFP.

Security forces used tear gas to disperse several hundred youths who lobbed bottles, fireworks, iron bars and dustbins at police, AFP said. The protest, dubbed the “Day of Anger,” initially focused on denigrating French President Francois Hollande, who has been unable to stem steep French unemployment and the perception that minorities, particularly Islamic immigrants, have taken all the jobs.

A court in the Eastern Province city of Dammam sentenced the high school teacher to 30 days in jail and to 50 lashes for handing a male student a slip of paper in which he wrote a flirty message and included his mobile number, local news site Sabq reported on Monday.

The case was reported to the school administration and subsequently to the court where the teacher was also told that he would lose his basic salary for three months and be moved from classrooms to an administrative job that does not deal directly with students. Read it all here........

The attack — described by witnesses, documented in a video released by the militants, and confirmed by three people briefed on the Egyptian government’s investigation — validated longstanding fears that such weapons would spill into Egypt and beyond after the Libyan civil war tore open Col. Jang Song-thaek, the once-powerful uncle, was executed last month on charges of attempting to overthrow the communist regime, including contemplating a military-backed coup. All direct relatives of Jang have also been executed, the sources said.

"Extensive executions have been carried out for relatives of Jang Song-thaek," one source said on condition of anonymity. "All relatives of Jang have been put to death, including even children." The executed relatives include Jang's sister Jang Kye-sun, her husband and Ambassador to Cuba Jon Yong-jin, and Ambassador to Malaysia Jang Yong-chol, who is a nephew of Jang, as well as his two sons, the sources said.

All of them were recalled to Pyongyang in early December and executed, they said. The sons, daughters and even grandchildren of Jang's two brothers were all executed, they said. "Some relatives were shot to death by pistol in front of other people if they resisted while being dragged out of their apartment homes," another source said.

Some relatives by marriage, including the wife of the ambassador to Malaysia, have been spared from executions and sent to remote villages along with their maiden families, according to the sources. "The executions of Jang's relatives mean that no traces of him should be left," a source said. "The purge of the Jang Song-thaek people is under way on an extensive scale from relatives and low-level officials."
