|Malaysiakini : PAS will not allow DAP to rule Sarawak as it wants only a Muslim bumiputera to be the chief minister, said its president Abdul Hadi Awang during the state election campaign.
The Chinese and Indian are accepted as citizens, but the leader needs to be a Malay Muslim, Hadi told some 250 at a ceramah at Taman Sukma, Kuching.
“PAS wants Sarawak to be ruled by bumiputera and not other races.
“Only bumiputera must rule Sarawak, and PAS wants it to be Muslim bumiputera,” said the PAS president.
"We do not allow others (to be chief minister), we do not agree that DAP rules Sabah and Sarawak.
“We accept the Chinese to be rakyat and we treat all of them fairly, but every one who helms a state must be bumiputera," he said.
He said PAS, which is contesting in 11 state seats out of 82, does not desire to rule the state but only wants to advise the government.
"PAS cannot rule the state even if it wins all 11 seats, there are 71 more seats.
"Why (do we seek) only 11 seats? So we can be the state advisor and advise the state government to rule fairly, as guided by Islam," he said to the crowd, who chanted "Allahu akbar".
Hadi, who is also Marang MP, reminded Sarawakians they are entrusted to choose the people who are able to be their voice in the state legislative assembly.
"State elections empower the people to choose their leaders every five years. Choosing a leader is not about being paid RM10, RM50 and RM5,000.
"Choosing leaders is a responsibility. However people think elections are an opportunity to get paid to put up posters, to get money," he said.
In the run up to the state election to take place this Saturday, coalition for free and fair elections Bersih has identified 11 alleged electoral offences in Sibu.
