Malaysiakini : GE14 | The Royal Malaysian Navy’s chief has urged personnel to vote wisely and not let this “golden opportunity” go to waste.
Calling on Navy personnel to ensure they vote early with their
families, admiral Ahmad Kamarulzaman Ahmad Badaruddin reminded that
their votes are “secret”. In a posting on the Navy’s Facebook last night viewed by at least
39,000 at press time, he added they should not fear “incitement” in
making their rightful choice. “We are all free to make our own choices when we vote.
“Don't be influenced by any incitement that can affect our decision.
Use your wisdom based on facts, observations, achievements and our own
"As responsible Malaysians, vote wisely. Remember, our vote is secret," he stressed. “For those with families, bring along or help your spouse and parents
too,” he added, reminding them to check their polling stations and go
out early. Ahmad Kamarulzaman said as professionals in the force, personnel
should not get involved in politics, but be loyal to king and country.
He also urged the commanders, commanding officers and division
officers to assist and ensure that all personnel are given the
opportunity to vote and to “understand their right to determine the
future of our country”, as well as that of the Navy personnel and their
families. “It will be a loss if we let this golden opportunity go,” he said. Another Facebook posting earlier today urged Malaysians to vote wisely, without paying heed to any incitement. "As responsible Malaysian citizens, let us vote with wisdom. Ignore
all incitement and be thankful for what we have. Our vote is for the
future of the country!" read the post.
However, unlike last night's post, the latest one was NOT attributed
to Ahmad Kamarulzaman, and it had also hashtagged BN's motto for GE14,
#HebatkanNegaraku, and tagged caretaker Defence Minister Hishammuddin Hussein and the Ministry of Defence.
