Rudyard Kipling"
āWhen you're left wounded on Afganistan's plains and
the women come out to cut up what remains, Just roll to your rifle
and blow out your brains,
And go to your God like a soldierā
General Douglas MacArthur"
āWe are not retreating. We are advancing in another direction.ā
āIt is fatal to enter any war without the will to win it.ā āOld soldiers never die; they just fade away.
āThe soldier, above all other people, prays for peace, for he must suffer and be the deepest wounds and scars of war.ā
āMay God have mercy upon my enemies, because I won't .ā āThe object of war is not to die for your country but to make the other bastard die for his.
āNobody ever defended, there is only attack and attack and attack some more.
āIt is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died. Rather we should thank God that such men lived.
The Soldier stood and faced God
Which must always come to pass
He hoped his shoes were shining
Just as bright as his brass
"Step forward you Soldier,
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My Church have you been true?"
"No, Lord, I guess I ain't
Because those of us who carry guns
Can't always be a saint."
I've had to work on Sundays
And at times my talk was tough,
And sometimes I've been violent,
Because the world is awfully rough.
But, I never took a penny
That wasn't mine to keep.
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep,
The Soldier squared his shoulders and said
And I never passed a cry for help
Though at times I shook with fear,
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.
I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fears.
If you've a place for me here,
Lord, It needn't be so grand,
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't, I'll understand."
There was silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod
As the Soldier waited quietly,
For the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now, you Soldier,
You've borne your burden well.
Walk peacefully on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in Hell."
Malaysiakini : Self-styled land activist Tamim Dahri Abdul Razak has compared United
for the Rights of Malaysians Party (Urimai) to Sri Lankaās Liberation
Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE).
Tamim, who is sought by authorities
over the desecration of a sacred Hindu symbol, made the comparison while
sarcastically expressing pity for Urimai secretary Satees Muniandy, but
did not elaborate on his comment.
In a post on Threads yesterday,
Tamim said āIngat semua, Urimai = LTTEā, and attached a screenshot of
comments responding to Sateesā Hari Raya Aidilfitri greeting.
The
screenshot showed one commenter rejecting Sateesā greeting, telling him
to handle the issue of āillegalā temples while saying that Tamim and
independent preacher Zamri Vinoth do not disturb legitimate temples.
Another commenter warned others to be careful as āTamil wayang (theatre) is (on)ā.
Urimai secretary Satees Muniandy
On Friday, Gerakan Rakyat Anti Haram (Garah) interim chief Haniff Khatri Abdulla said his group was painted in a bad light due to the actions of āimmature and irresponsible third partiesā.
However,
he neither named the other parties involved nor addressed the actions
of controversial individuals linked to the movement, such as Tamim.
Controversial activism
Tamim was supposed to be charged in Langkawi on Tuesday for stepping on a holy Hindu trident, or soolam, but prosecutors sought a postponement to allow them to bring him to court as he had fled the country.
On Thursday, Tamim agreed to surrender himself to the police on the condition that authorities demolish a list of allegedly āillegalā Hindu temples.
He
made his statement on the Threads account for āTanah Malayaā, an
activist group he founded that actively collects and shares information
about temples allegedly built without permission in Malaysia.
Dr Suresh Kumar : Malaysiakini, if you publish an article, especially on a coward rabble rouser like this guy, then be prepared to hear the views of your readers. People will naturally be inclined to defend their religion.
I support press freedom like wise you must also uphold the freedom of expression of your readers. If NEWS matters to you, so should the VIEWS of your readers matter too. Do not treat your readers with disdain.
World Citizen : Agree with you Dr. Suresh. Malaysiakini will delete any slightest negative comment on characters like Tamin, Vinodh, Firdaus Wong and the like yet MK is so eager to report anything negative they say about the Indians in this country.
Either MK owes these characters something or they are too chicken that the Malay establishment will be after them. MK today is a pathetic version of its past.
HangTuahPJ : After my subscription expires, I am not renewing my subscription with Malaysiakini. I hope someone sets up an alternative news portal and report like how it was during Premesh and Gan's time.
Malaysiakini is now very Malay centric and very bipartisan against non Malays. it has become something like Harakah. High time all of us boycotted and cancelled our subs with Malaysiakini.
Dr Suresh Kumar : Madam. I renew my subscription for only 3 months at a time even though Malaysiakini encourages me to to renew it for life. Why do I renew for only 3 months?
Because if and when I decide to boycott Malaysiakini, I will only lose a small amount of money. I have also learned from commentators here that Malaysiakini do ban commentators. To be honest, so far they have not banned me and if at all they ban me, I will say good bye to them for ever.
Yes you are right the Malaysiakini today is a far shadow from what they were once under Premesh and Gan and I have on numerous occasions highlighted this. I have even asked who are the latest owners of Malaysiakini, but so far I have not got the answer as yet. Yesss, we need an alternative.
Iamnotarobot : Tamim Dahri kamu yang berkelakuan seperti Taliban.Merosakkan harta benda agama lain dan melarikan diri dari undang undang dan meletakkan permintaaan yang tak masuk akal.
Nostromo : Malaysiakini give this fella so much publicity
Other media hardly mention him
But every move he makes is frontpage news on Malaysiakini.
Last time, Malaysiakini's favourite posterboy is Akmal
Last year, everyday it was Akmal, Akmal, Akmal in Malaysiakini
Now, its Tamim. Malaysiakini loves to platform him
Now, its this Tamim loser that Malaysiakini hails as a "Activist"
I think Malaysiakini is just relishing platforming this fella to attack Indians
And if you defend Indians in the comments, Malaysiakini will delete you
Yet, they platform this fella, every insult he makes about Indians is front page news on Malaysiakini
If i say more, they will delete me
