Trump on Brussels attacks: I told you so

Donald Trump wasted little time reacting to the terrorist attacks in Brussels — weighing in with multiple television interviews before even talking to his new foreign-policy advisers.

The Republican front-runner toured the morning talk-show circuit, stressing in the aftermath of multiple explosions throughout the Belgian capital that he is the strongest on border control, an issue he said he has emphasized more than any other candidate.

Trump said immigrants aren’t assimilating to other countries’ cultures and the U.S. has to be vigilant. “This is what I’ve been saying for a long time, and I guess it’s at least a small part of the reason why I’m the No. 1 front-runner,” he told “Fox & Friends” in a phone interview Tuesday. “I mean, people are very concerned about this, and they’re very concerned about the security of this country.”

According to Belgian authorities, at least 31 people are dead and more than 170 are injured following a series of explosions — two at an airport and another at a metro station not far from the headquarters of the European Union. “Brussels was a beautiful city, a beautiful place with zero crime, and now it’s a disaster city,” Trump said.

“It’s a total disaster.” Trump, who called for a temporary ban on Muslims in December following terror attacks, and previously called Brussels a "hellhole," again called for increased border security and accused the government of being oblivious to U.S. immigration.
