Switzerland: Citizenship revoked of Muslim convicted of recruiting jihad fighters for Islamic State

Jihad Watch : In a first such move by Switzerland, which should be applauded and replicated in other Western countries:

Switzerland has revoked the citizenship of a man convicted of helping recruit jihadist fighters, invoking a law allowing dual nationals to be stripped of their Swiss passports for conduct detrimental to national interests or reputation.

“Last year, Australia revoked the nationality of an Islamic State (IS) recruiter, despite some concerns the move would leave him stateless, while Britain in February stripped a 19-year-old teenager of citizenship on security grounds.” And the German parliament recently revised its Nationality Act “to make it tougher on those joining foreign terrorist groups, polygamists and naturalized citizens who committed fraud to gain citizenship.”

Germany’s cabinet also “approved a change to the law allowing dual nationals to lose their citizenship if they fight for a foreign terrorist militia.” In Canada, the Liberal government scrapped a law instituted by the former Conservative government to strip citizenship from convicted terrorists who have dual citizenship.
