No Atheists
In A Foxhole

Rudyard Kipling

" “When you're left wounded on
Afganistan's plains and

the women come out to cut up what remains,
Just roll to your rifle

and blow out your brains,
And go to your God like a soldier”
General Douglas MacArthur

" “We are not retreating. We are advancing in another direction.”

“It is fatal to enter any war without the will to win it.”
“Old soldiers never die; they just fade away.
“The soldier, above all other people, prays for peace,
for he must suffer and be the deepest wounds and scars of war.”
“May God have mercy upon my enemies, because I won't .”
“The object of war is not to die for your country but to make the other bastard die for his.

“Nobody ever defended, there is only attack and attack and attack some more.
“It is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died.
Rather we should thank God that such men lived.
The Soldier stood and faced God
Which must always come to pass
He hoped his shoes were shining
Just as bright as his brass
"Step forward you Soldier,
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My Church have you been true?"
"No, Lord, I guess I ain't
Because those of us who carry guns
Can't always be a saint."
I've had to work on Sundays
And at times my talk was tough,
And sometimes I've been violent,
Because the world is awfully rough.
But, I never took a penny
That wasn't mine to keep.
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep,
The Soldier squared his shoulders and said
And I never passed a cry for help
Though at times I shook with fear,
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.
I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fears.
If you've a place for me here,
Lord, It needn't be so grand,
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't, I'll understand."
There was silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod
As the Soldier waited quietly,
For the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now, you Soldier,
You've borne your burden well.
Walk peacefully on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in Hell."

HISTORY | Re-examining the 1915 Singapore mutiny By Ranjit Singh Malhi
Sunday, September 04, 2022
The Ottomans were defeated after WW1, therefore the Muslims in the Indian Army mutinied, remember India was invaded and occupied by the Muslims, long before the British. They were the Mongols, politically corrected to Mughals.

Malaysiakini : HISTORY | On Feb 15, 1915, at about 3pm, a short-lived rebellion broke out in Singapore involving about 300–400 Rajput Muslims of the British Indian Army’s 5th Light Infantry regiment.

This leaderless and poorly coordinated rebellion was brought under control within two days, but it took about a month to round up the mutineers. Despite being a well-documented event, several leading local and foreign historians have given an erroneous account of the 1915 Singapore Mutiny, including the major error of stating that the men of the Mountain Battery of the Malay States Guides (MSG) took an active part in the mutiny.

Hence, this article seeks to re-examine the incident, focusing on rectifying the factual errors prevalent in several historical works and shedding light on its actual causes based on Colonial Office records and other authoritative sources.

The following table summarises some of the factual errors and corrections.

The Mountain Battery of the MSG was attached to the 5th Light Infantry at Singapore’s Alexandra Barracks. At least six academicians have stated erroneously that the Mountain Battery was involved in the atrocities of the 1915 Singapore Mutiny which resulted in the death of 44 people - excluding the mutineers.

There is no evidence at all that the Mountain Battery of the MSG participated in the atrocities committed by the 5th Light Infantry.  Most of the Guides dispersed into the jungle with some of them surrendering the same night and others a few days later. Indeed, the Court of Inquiry established by the British government cleared the Mountain Battery of complicity in the mutiny.

It is important to note that some of the Guides were forced to join the mutineers. The Court of Inquiry admitted, “that the evidence of force having been used by the 5th Light Infantry to compel them [Guides] to participate in the Mutiny is very strong and connected; that there is no shred of evidence to connect the individuals with any of the outrages.”

It concluded: “On the whole, therefore, it may be said that any evidence which might connect the detachment of the Malay States Guides with the Mutiny is practically non-existent, and in the circumstances, seeing that they had few arms and but little ammunition, their conduct, though lacking in initiative, was perhaps justifiable.”

Mutiny participants

The ringleaders of the mutiny – Subedar Dunde Khan, Jemadar Chisti Khan, Havildar Imtiaz Ali, and sepoy Ismail Khan who fired the first shot of the mutiny - were all men of the 5th Light Infantry.

Out of the 213 men tried by court-martial for their involvement in the 1915 Mutiny, only 11 belonged to the MSG and all of the 47 insurgents sentenced to death were men of the 5th Light Infantry.
