In a statement today, Kota Melaka MP Khoo Poay Tiong (above) said the government had announced in March that the state was planning to build a 47km undersea rail link.

Yesterday, Malacca Investment, Industry, Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Committee chairperson Ab Rauf Yusoh announced that either a 120km bridge or a tunnel would be built instead.

Rauf claimed that both countries had agreed to the project in principle and relevant local government agencies were brought to Teluk Gong to view the potential project site.

Stand For Truth : The 52 billion price tag says it all. Another scheme to pay 10-20 billion to have an invisible bridge in the near future if this project is allowed.

Frans Rozario : Not a white Elephant, but rather a Red Herring I suppose. We have had very bad issues of integrity, money laundering, nepotism and corruption with large projects in Malaysia, this looks really large and the scope for these unwanted activities seems very, very big in this case. 

If ever it is to take off, there must be a detailed study done by independent consultants who have undertaken such projects before, to really study its feasibility. 

The appointment of the Consultants must be transparent and it must be done by credible consultant's and the people haave to know and be able to see what is happening, not given to 2 dollar consultants or ministers or state assemblymen wives who won 2dollar consultancies as have been done in the past. 

The entire process must be open to scrutiny, we need such controls as we have become notorious for corruption related to such projects.

Simple Truth : Feasibility study?? The thieves don’t know what you are talking about. The whole idea is to come up with an idea to suck the coffer dry then declare that after “spending” all that money the project can’t go on and has to be cancelled. Meanwhile where have all the money gone?? No one knows!! Just like the LCS project. Same modus operandi!! Chilaka!!
