Malaysiakini : 1MDB TRIAL | The criminal court has put its foot down over the latest attempt by Najib Abdul Razak’s legal team to reserve the cross-examination of prosecution witnesses in the former prime minister’s RM2.28 billion 1MDB corruption trial.

Kuala Lumpur High Court judge Collin Lawrence Sequerah this morning issued an advance warning that the prosecution would be allowed to proceed with a re-examination of witnesses and call new witnesses, in the event that none of the accused’s legal team was prepared to mount cross-examination.

The trial judge said this after being informed by Najib’s co-counsel Wan Aizuddin Wan Mohammed that the defence seek to reserve cross-examination as lead counsel Muhammad Shafee Abdullah (above) was attending another court matter this morning and would only be available this afternoon.

Wan Aizuddin was referring to the 40th prosecution witness and former AmInvestment Bank managing director Kok Tuck Cheong, who took the witness stand for the prosecution this morning and deputy public prosecutor T Deepa Nair wrapped up the examination-in-chief of the witness.

Why did the High Ct Judge Collin Sequerah allow Shafee to carry-on with his excuses that his service is needed in another Court.Why did Shafee chose to represent NR when his diary appointment is already full.Macam ini,it looks like this NR 1MDB Criminal Case will be dragged -on until after PRU15

Freethinker : It certainly look like the whole country justice system is at the mercy of the accused and defence lawyer for their availability to attend court or decide when they want to cross examine the witness as and when they like it.

The court date is long given and if the defence lawyer has other better things to do then attending the court matter, let another lawyer handle it. stop belittling the court with absenteeism.

Turnedback : Should just go ahead to prosecute the witnesses if the defence are dragging and delaying to do his part, it clearly the defence lawyer take granted the court can be abused as when they want. The judge must firmly put a stop on all these sorts of nonsense.

Wong Fei Hoong : Thus humbug defence lawyer is trying to delay the case till GE15. The hon. Judge said it right. Don't tell us that there is only 1 defence lawyer in his gang of lawyers who can represent Najib. The judge should not give them face and should proceed with the case. The case has been going too long.
