Mahathirudan sees parallels between 'Undi Banjir' and 2018's Wednesday polls

Malaysiakini : Former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad has drawn a comparison between the forthcoming general election and the 2018 polls – where the latter was held on a Wednesday.

He claimed that both polls were meant to discourage high voter turnout in order to ensure BN’s victory. "Umno's move in calling for the general election to be held amid the monsoon and flood season is aimed at making sure the voter turnout rate is low," Mahathir said in a social media post.

"This strategy is no different from what Umno/BN did in the 2018 general election, where the polling day was set on Wednesday (May 9).

Me : Umno has been a very good student of this past expired date.

Justice : Mahathir's enticing words must be taken with extra caution. He can even lick an enemy's boot if it serves his purpose or agenda. So he can for example go and meet Ku Li, went to the court to meet Anwar etc to win their support. And don't be surprise if he meets Zahid and even Najib if that can help him block or stop Anwar if he sees the possibility of Anwar bcoming PM.

And he is supported or financed by his billionaires gang his cronies. But once power falls into his hand, then, he will dump his "enemies" using all kinds of pretext like what happened to PH during the 22 months after PRU14 eg thru the Sheraton Coup.

His and his children unexplained wealth n assets n properties in and outside Malaysia are never questioned or investigated. Prime ministers after him are all helpless in challenging him. So he can just bashed them left right centre with impunity. Strange. Perplexing. Weird.

GreenKoala4364 : Power crazy rascal, how many will believe your words now as far as politic is concerned. To many of us, u are a gone case , not trustworthy and in fact reconfirmed a cunning old fox trying to over-smart everyone. A smart person is destroyed by his own smart move. U deserve it.

Cogito Ergo Sum : The harder they make it for voters to vote, the more determined people are to make it count. This tactic of holding elections when it is inconvenient for the people is desperation by the incumbents. Only school bullies use similar methods to win. Is this the low life and political bullies we want to run us to the ground? If yes, we deserve to be punished for our stupidity!

apanama is back : Mahathir, we tweak a bit of low voters turnover scenario that always favour the ruling coalition even during your first tenure. You did that many times and it was well documented. Thus, your statement. However, I believe Malaysians now are getting smarter.

Whether it will be high voters turnover or low voters turnover, Malaysians could vote OUT UMNO Baru en masse. I am not talking this scenario in theory. It will happen when people are fed up, angry, upset and frustrated. Anything is possible in GE15 as it was in GE14.

So far we had undergone 15 General Elections in 67 years, since 1955. Each and every election are unique. Of course one could talk based on previous history of low turnover but I believe this coming GE15 will be unique and different.

Let us break that general perception saying low voters turnover will favour UMNO Baru. Even if the voters turnover is 50%, we could still vote UMNO Baru out. People could vote with anger. I do hope this happen in this GE15. It should be backfired.

NoobMaster69 : No vote for the corrupt ie BN! No vote for the traitors ie PN! No vote for Atok ie GTA! Looks like we don’t have much choice. Vote PH. Your only hope.
