MIC gets a wet dream - To recapture former stronghold Sungai Siput

Malaysiakini : MIC president SA Vigneswaran is planning to contest in the Sungai Siput parliamentary seat, a former MIC fortress, in the 15th general election (GE15).

“I hope I will be contesting in Sungai Siput. “That’s what I’m thinking of. I cannot go to a new place. There’s not enough time,” The Star quoted Vigneswaran telling reporters on the sidelines of the MIC annual general meeting yesterday.

For the record, former MIC president S Samy Vellu served as Sungai Siput MP for eight terms from September 1974, until he lost to PSM’s Dr Michael Jeyakumar Devaraj in March 2008.

The current Sungai Siput MP is PKR’s Kesavan Subramaniam, who beat MIC’s SK Devamany for the seat in the 2018 general election. According to Vigneswaran (above), MIC is gunning to contest for nine parliamentary seats, or possibly more, and 18 state seats in GE15.

The party currently only has one parliamentary seat - Tapah, which is held by MIC deputy president M Saravanan. Vigneswaran said the party had already appointed coordinators who are already working on the ground, meeting voters from all races, in places they are planning to contest in.

KAJANG PRISONER : Dr Jayakumar did an excellent job as MP. A true people's man, he used his old Volvo as his office and worked tirelessly. Although he's from PSM, it was agreed the he used PKR symbol. The last elections PKR put up their own candidate and Dr Jayakumar used his PSM symbol and lost badly.

Siva1967 : I hope PSM’s Dr Michael Jeyakumar Devaraj will stand again in Sg. Siput and this time around the people will vote him back. Dr. Michael has done a lot for the people there regardless of race or religion.

Only the Tsunami of 2018 swept his chance of winning for a 3rd term. I hope the people will be able to see the conniving ways of the MIC and their years of hoodwinking the Indians and will vote wisely

Open minded 2281 : Saravanan just go and see the discrimination of Indians both the civil service and university entrance which have nothing to do with state governments. Please do not cheat and lie to the Indians to get votes.

WhiteMoose0037 : MIC has always and will remain as a servant of UMNO. You have only to throw crumbs and see the big wig in MIC running for it. Reason leaders with limited education and low calibre. UMNO needs the party only to show they embrace multi cultural and racial.

MIC was part of the government for 60+ years and you blame PH for the woes of the Indians because they were there for 22 months? You guys even stole most of the money allocated for the Indians.
