No dissolution: Ruler assents to Selangor govt 'continuing' - MB

Malaysiakini : Selangor ruler Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah has given his royal assent for the state government not to have concurrent polls with the federal government.

This comes after the Parliament was dissolved yesterday to make way for the 15th general election (GE15) which must be held within 60 days. In a statement today, Selangor Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari said the ruler agreed for the state government to focus on ensuring the well-being of the people.

"I sought an audience with the ruler this morning at Istana Kayangan in a scheduled meeting.  "I brought up the state government's commitment and preparation in dealing with the possible flood situation in Selangor, economic recovery efforts, and welfare assistance," he said.

The Selangor state budget 2023, which will be presented in the state legislative assembly, was also raised, according to Amirudin.

"The ruler gave his assent for this state administration to continue to ensure the wellbeing of the people," he said.
