Rudyard Kipling"
āWhen you're left wounded on Afganistan's plains and
the women come out to cut up what remains, Just roll to your rifle
and blow out your brains,
And go to your God like a soldierā
General Douglas MacArthur"
āWe are not retreating. We are advancing in another direction.ā
āIt is fatal to enter any war without the will to win it.ā āOld soldiers never die; they just fade away.
āThe soldier, above all other people, prays for peace, for he must suffer and be the deepest wounds and scars of war.ā
āMay God have mercy upon my enemies, because I won't .ā āThe object of war is not to die for your country but to make the other bastard die for his.
āNobody ever defended, there is only attack and attack and attack some more.
āIt is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died. Rather we should thank God that such men lived.
The Soldier stood and faced God
Which must always come to pass
He hoped his shoes were shining
Just as bright as his brass
"Step forward you Soldier,
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My Church have you been true?"
"No, Lord, I guess I ain't
Because those of us who carry guns
Can't always be a saint."
I've had to work on Sundays
And at times my talk was tough,
And sometimes I've been violent,
Because the world is awfully rough.
But, I never took a penny
That wasn't mine to keep.
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep,
The Soldier squared his shoulders and said
And I never passed a cry for help
Though at times I shook with fear,
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.
I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fears.
If you've a place for me here,
Lord, It needn't be so grand,
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't, I'll understand."
There was silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod
As the Soldier waited quietly,
For the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now, you Soldier,
You've borne your burden well.
Walk peacefully on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in Hell."
An albatross named Zahid weighing down BN, Harapan By Malaysiakini Team
Monday, November 07, 2022
Malaysiakini : GE15 | Ahmad Zahid Hamidiās political rivals believe the mere mention of his name could swing votes in their favour. Since
the onset of the campaigning period, BN candidates have been attempting
to deflect the claim that āa vote for them is a vote for Zahidā amid
speculation that it would be the Umno president, and not Ismail Sabri
Yaakob, who would become prime minister if the coalition wins.
MIC president SA Vigneswaran, hoping to reclaim the Sungai Siput
seat in Perak, reiterated that Ismail Sabri, the third person in four
years to hold the record of having the shortest stint as prime minister,
is BNās candidate for the top post. He pointed out that Zahid himself had affirmed this.
Vigneswaran was also not impressed
with Pakatan Harapanās prime minister candidate Anwar Ibrahim being
compared to Nelson Mandela, arguing that while the latter was imprisoned
for fighting against apartheid in South Africa, the former, however,
landed behind bars for a crime.
Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin, whose chances of winning the Sungai Buloh
seat have brightened due to Harapanās lacklustre candidate, reminded
his voters that a āvote for him is a vote for himā and not for Zahid.
Talk
of Zahid, whom detractors claim is alarmed about having to dine with
former premier Najib Abdul Razak in prison, gunning for the premiership
intensified amid claims that BN candidates were asked to sign a letter of undertaking to support him on this matter.
It is alleged that as prime minister, he would be able to sidestep a conviction concerning his corruption case. The document had circulated on social media but Umno denounced it as fake.
Even
Ismail Sabri himself was forced to reassure voters that he would return
as prime minister, and there have been no changes to this arrangement. "This
is just the opposition (parties) trying to create a perception although
I have already said that it is the supreme council and general assembly
that made the decision,ā he said.
Harapanās Zahid problem
On
the other hand, Harapanās adversaries are peddling the claim of a
potential pact between Zahid and Anwar, who at 75, is perhaps in his
final bid to realise his dream of becoming prime minister.
Gerakan
Tanah Air pro tem chairperson Dr Mahathir Mohamad is among those
fueling this allegation, claiming that Anwar had promised to let Zahid
and Najib walk free in exchange for their support to become prime
minister.
Latching onto this, the opposition leaderās contender for the Tambun
seat, Ahmad Faizal Azumu, is asking the MACC to investigate if such an
agreement exists because it is an issue of national interest and
undermines public confidence in the justice system.
Previously, PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang, who is part of the Perikatan Nasional coalition, also made a similar allegation about a Zahid-Anwar pact. On a related note, the purported undertaking BN candidates had inked
mentioned agreeing to the exploration of an alliance with other parties
after the general election.
In August, DAPās secretary-general Anthony Loke did not rule out the possibility of working with Umno as well. Speculation about Anwar and Zahid, who were once allies in Umno, working together is not new.
This
surfaced in the recent past amid the jostling for power and numbers in
the Dewan Rakyat which followed the collapse of the Harapan federal
government.
When Anwar was in Umno, the pair were known to be
close and Zahid had been detained under the now defunct Internal
Security Act (ISA) after Mahathir had sacked Anwar as his number two in
1998.
At that point, Zahid was the Umno Youth chief and staunch supporter of Anwar. Zahidās daughter Nurulhidayah had recalled how her father was dumped blindfolded in the middle of the highway 10 days after his arrest.
However,
both Anwar and Zahid denied Mahathirās latest allegation, with the
Harapan leader mocking the nonagenarian that the 97-year-old politician
would develop a fever if he became the prime minister.
My2cen : PN is in bed with umno and they are now accusing PH of offering to work with umno-Zahid.
Mahathir & Mahiaddin & Hadi buat Lawak bodoh -- all these slanders because they don't have any ideas how to run the country even though they have 'experience' in government!
They don't have anything to say in their ceramah because they have failed when they were holding power in Putrajaya, so the best is just putar & repeat their fitnah daily.
We can only hope the youths open their eyes & ears to what has happened the last 60, if not 6 years, to evaluate for themselves.
They are still in the 'compare & contrast' analytical thinking/training phase, and should be more discerning than the jaded oldies.
IndigoSwan6963 : 1. A Vote for KJ is not a Vote for KJ but BN/UMNO. Let us be clear about that.
2. The so-called pact between Anwar and Zahid must be substantiated otherwise it is like saying that this is a true fact but out of a fairy tale only. Have you got the consent from Harapan and BN to conclude this?
3. Forget about Tun MM. He was not accepted by Harapan nor PN. None wants to have anything to do with him. This speaks volume by itself.
4. MIC has no say in BN and has zero rights to comment that who the PM from BN will come from. Anyway, it is certain not from MIC.
