Backlash to PAS' Himpit event an 'overreaction' - Wan Fayhsal Shakira Buang

Malaysiakini : Criticism against the PAS Youth gathering called “Himpunan Pemuda Islam Terengganu” (Himpit) is an overreaction by the public, a Bersatu leader has said.

“I think this is an overreaction by the public, especially... sorry to say, the non-Malays and non-Muslims. “They (PAS Youth) were having their jamboree, their private event for the party. It’s like a cosplay event, just dramatising historical period,” said Bersatu Youth chief Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal (above).

He was speaking to reporters at the Kuala Lumpur court complex today.

LimePanther5220 : The authorities must not brush this aside. Is this the start of militancy in Malaysia? Is it a moulding of young minds to take up arms? What is objective of displaying replicas of weapons?

What is the intended message behind the procession? Is it a threat of unrest to cow the present government in the light of investigation and charges being laid against certain opposition leaders? There was certainly no resemblance to Chinese opera or cosplay.

Aisyalam : When a religious political party of one race have its youths dressed in armor and carrying weapons, what do you think the message to the other races can be especially when it’s leader is also used to condemning other races.

Lionking : Never understand the non Malays are only about 25 to 30% and dwindling every year. Why the Malays have to fear the non Malays. The govt is controlled by the Malays.

Sadly the politicians are the ones playing the race card for their personal interest and gain. the govt of the day must be tough against all racial attacks.

RZee : How can a frightening and threatening event be an over reaction? Maybe this ignorant man has not seen what the ku klux klan did. It was not cosplay, not for fun but an event to threaten and warn.

The Pemuda group should be disbanded as the brainwashed members acted and behaved like thugs and fools. And they will do worse if the button is pressed.

OrangeJaguar9341 : As far as racist parties like Bersatu and PAS are concerned, when non-Malays celebrate their culture, they are being insensitive and hurting Malay sentiment.

But when Malays dress for war and march with replicas of medieval weapons and shouts, the non-Malays are overreacting. These leaders are morally bankrupt, unfit for office and a disgrace in a multiracial Malaysia.

Focusapp : Arrest of DAP with alleged links to LTTE. That's not just way over-reaction but abuse as well. Till now, there's no concrete evidence of those links.
