Dr M: Losing deposit in Langkawi doesn't mean I will shut up

Mahathir al Iskandar Kutty

Malaysiakini : Former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad said that his emphatic defeat in the recent general election will not prevent him from speaking up and voicing his opinions.

In a brief statement, Mahathir (above), who served as premier in two spells from 1981-2003 and 2018-2020, said that it was his duty to speak up and tell the truth. "I found that after the election, every time I reprimanded someone or expressed concerns about current developments, I was told to rest and shut up because I lost the election and lost my deposit.

"I'm a bit puzzled why they want me to be silent. It used to be said that I was senile. Now I am told to keep quiet because the deposit is lost," said Mahathir.   He suffered a crushing defeat in the November polls, coming in fourth behind candidates from Bersatu-PN, Umno-BN and Amanah-Pakatan Harapan, bagging less than 10 percent of the vote in a seat where he was the incumbent.

"For me, every truth needs to be stated even if only one person hears it. If no one is listening, the truth still needs to be told. "Permission (to speak) is not a majority or minority monopoly nor does it depend on losing the deposit. If that's the measure, I think the minority group should keep quiet and accept whatever the majority decision is, even if it's wrong. "As long as there is life, I will continue to voice what is not right even if it is bitter to be heard by groups that did not lose the deposit," said Mahathir.

GrayWhale2704 : By all means, open your mouth while you still can. This fact stays: You are no more relevant to Malaysia.

Belakang Masuk : You have become a joke. The more you speak the more exciting the circus get. What you say is irrelevant to the Rakyat anymore. It’s game over for you.

Alexander Kutty : Lol.. nobody expects a thick skin buffalo to behave any different … mahathir now heads the biggest loser division, and since he wants to talk so much, he should consider stand up comedy, cause he is such a joke ..😂

Kongkang kangkong : Its not about losing deposits, your talking is iirrelevant.

PurpleKijang9104 : In the name of Malays are very poor and they need the support of the government, you enriched your family members and your friends but the poor Malays are still poor and you still keep drumming the same issue recently.

Do you still want to live long pass 100 years to drum the same and divide the races? Your 22 year rule has done the most damage to this wonderful country of different races lived together soon the British left our beloved nation. Tunku and Tun Ismail strived hard to put Malaya then in its best multicultural and multi-religious society on the International map for due recognition but unfortunately both did not live long to see their aspirations to come true.

The tyrants after that became race biased and till today every leader taking over is drumming the same race based policies but not the need based though they speak in political gatherings.

My Brother Did It : "Permission (to speak) is not a majority or minority monopoly nor does it depend on losing the deposit. If that's the measure, I think the minority group should keep quiet and accept whatever the majority decision is, even if it's wrong

Really? But you put almost 100 people in prison as they had different opinion, via operasi lalang?
