Ramasamy confronts 'big racial lie' - Commander S THAYAPARAN (Retired) Royal Malaysian Navy

My late Sergeant Major, a Malay, who was a Corporal when I was a UCIS Commander, who later became my Sergeant Major before I was promoted to a Major said this:

"Tuan, nampak sangat mereka ini pilih bulu". I had already passed my promotion exam for Captain to Major around 9 years back! A former Chief of Army who was my batch said this when I was overlooked for career courses, "Sorry la Swami we overlooked you". He was a Major then I was a mere Captain, to that, I pulled down my zipper and showed him .

Later when I became a Major we are assessed on our performance, I was placed at nearly average, mind you I was Commanding the largest company in the Mechanized Company in the Infantry (Mechanized Battalion), I got to look at the others performance assessment, they were much higher all of them were Malays.

I was NOT supposed to know, unfortunately for them, the clerks were also under me. I told my 2IC, who later left the service as a two star General, "Sir, Malays are basically racist". To which he responded, "You cannot say that". I told him, "I will say that any way I like!" I was serving in the most blooded battalion in the Armed Forces.

"Now for the big racial truth. The fact is that non-Malays have never stopped loving this country. The country stopped loving us." That's the frigging truth!!!

COMMENT | Amanah central committee member Mohd Sany Hamzan's contention that Penang Deputy Chief Minister P Ramasamy “is looking for trouble and attempts to be the hero of his race with cheap publicity” is exactly the kind of strategy that proponents of the ‘big racial lie’ engage in.

An element of this big racial lie is that non-Malays are not patriotic enough to accept the low wages that come with civil service.

Umno Youth secretary-general Hasmuni Hassan said the same as reported in the press – “In a statement today, Hasmuni said the lack of non-Malays in the public service sector was due to low wages. He said this is different from the Malay community who are more willing to serve the government out of a spirit of patriotism.”
