School football conversion case investigation paper sent to KL police By B Nantha Kumar

Malaysiakini : A case in which a teacher allegedly tried to entice a student into converting to Islam to advance his football career has been referred to the Kuala Lumpur police headquarters.

Cheras district police chief Zam Halim Jamaluddin (above) said the investigation paper had already been completed but is pending further action. He told Malaysiakini that after the Kuala Lumpur police have gone through the investigation paper, it would be sent to the deputy public prosecutor.

He said this when asked for an update on the case.  Malaysiakini previously reported that the teacher allegedly encouraged the student to convert to Islam, claiming it would increase his chances of becoming a national football player.

The student's mother has filed a police report regarding the matter. The case was investigated under Section 298A of the Penal Code, which is causing disharmony for religious and public reasons, and Section 505(b) of the Penal Code, which is causing fear or panic to the public.

The Education Ministry is also investigating the case.

Bornean : Still no serious action yet? only completed investigation? Should have charged long time...
