COMMENT | A few points about the Bersatu Youth chief’s comments that opened this piece. First, if this was a private event, why did PAS broadcast that specific event on social media? Two, why is cosplay suddenly acceptable to PAS? And three, which era of Malaysian history was PAS dramatising?

PAS has all the hallmarks of a terrorist outfit

Look, the reason why non-Malays and non-Muslims are uneasy is because these are the types of viral videos that terrorist organisations put out to radicalise the younger generation and intimidate their enemies.

It has gotten so rampant that social media platforms like TikTok and YouTube routinely scrub such videos from their platforms but these organisations use other forms of social messaging apps to upload videos exactly like the kind that PAS offered up.

Kneazle : During the period of 9-11, all Malaysian passport holders were targeted for full body search, as the immigration officers can't differentiate whether one was Muslim or not. This stunt by PAS could cause serious damage internationally. It will not be surprising that Malaysian will be targeted again in the coming future this is not nib at the bud.

One : PAS leaders should be arrested. If leaders that did nothing can be accused of being members of a defunct LTTE and detained without being trialed why not put these PAS leaders in jail as well? Fair or not?

Man on the Silver Mountain : The writer has said it succinctly and candidly about the PAS Himpit video. Agree that it was about radicalizing. The radicalizing of Islam is especially dangerous, as we can see, not so much the religion is the issue, but radicalizing followers who could take extreme action in accordance to their radicalization.

Thus, what PAS did was very dangerous to the country. If it is allowed at the onset, there will be no knowing how it can be controlled once it manifests into action. Radicalization is extremism, which compels people to take the law into their own hands. It is no difference than all kind of extremism, be it Communism or racial / religious terrorism.

Government must take seriously this development. PAS is emboldened, especially after they won quite handsomely in GE 15. It must be cut at the bud. It must be outlawed for the sake of peace and harmony in the country.

Coward : That's why it is heartening that other Muslim leaders came out to say it is not appropriate. However, like me and most other people, they concentrate on its impact to non Muslims.
