Why India flew aid to Syria even as the West stays away

Weeks after the devastating earthquake in Turkey and Syria, India remains one of the few countries to give aid to both Turkey and Syria. Millions of Syrians, who have already suffered greatly because of the country's ongoing civil war, now face a new crisis with little aid from major donors like the West.

HT's Shashank Mattoo takes a look at why India has been one of the few countries to aid Syria directly after the February 6 earthquakes. Mattoo looks at why the West has been reluctant to cooperate with Bashar al-Assad's government in the country. He also unpacks India's relationship with Syria.

India is right. It would be indecent to not help Syrians just because US doesn't approve of the Syrian government.
