Najib aka Bossku's goose, is as good as cooked

Malaysiakini : Najib Abdul Razak will continue to serve his 12-year jail term in the RM42 million SRC International corruption case.

A five-person Federal Court bench chaired by Chief Judge of Sabah and Sarawak Abdul Rahman Sebli in a majority 4-1 verdict today denied the former prime minister's review application. Abdul Rahman made up the sole dissenting ruling to allow the review.

The majority ruling was courtesy of the other bench members namely Federal Court judges Vernon Ong Lam Kiat, Rhodzariah Bujang and Nordin Hassan as well as Court of Appeal judge Abu Bakar Jais.

This verdict is in line with a previous decision on Aug 23 last year by a different Federal Court bench chaired by Chief Justice Tengku Maimun Tuan Mat to uphold Najib's guilty verdict as well as a 12-year jail sentence and RM210 million fine.

A Little Bit Crazy : The Court must also punish these lawyers, Hisyam, Shafee, and Zaid. These 3 lawyers are wasting court times again and again. They made money out of the pains of Malaysians.

Selsub : Chief Judge of Sabah and Sarawak Rahman Sebli was the sole dissenting judge. The same judge read the majority judgement in Malaysiakini case who ordered Malaysiakini to pay RM550k.

Cogito Ergo Sum : No one, however a big shot lawyer one is, cannot hold the courts to ransom. The tactic of no submitting by the defence was at best a gimmick to get a review.

But it was an act to deny his own client a credible defence. He failed in his duty to defend his client vigorously and thereby failed as an advocate. This should be noted by all present and future clients. The judge has clearly pointed out this failure of the lawyer to submit.

Unfortunately, the reviews panel cannot enhance the sentence! That’s the only thing disappointing. It will be interesting to read the dissenting view.
