Malaysiakini : "Today we can see when the sultans decreed that mosques should not be used as a political stage, an opposition leader without any guilt said he will continue to do so as politics is a part of Islam.”
– Home Minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail.
COMMENT | PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang in disobeying a royal decree by the Sultan of Terengganu has demonstrated that rebelliousness is the way how Muslims should react towards religious diktats from the state. We always ask for a Muslim leader to lead the way and Hadi, by wilfully ignoring a royal decree, is doing more for the Islamic dialectic than every moderate religious and political operative in this government.
I have to admit the last person I thought would be leading the way for an Islamic reformation here in Malaysia would be Hadi. I always assumed Anwar Ibrahim would be that person. However, Anwar did not thumb his nose at a religious royal decree.
The Malay/Muslim religious and political establishment should have come down hard on anyone disrespecting Islam in this country - and by disrespecting, I mean ignoring the royalty who are supposed to be the keepers of the faith - but apparently, someone like Hadi can get away with doing that. In fact, any Muslim who is harassed by the state religious bureaucracy for not following diktats should point to Hadi as a prime example.
Simple Truth : Spot on Thayaparan! The PM is only making rectorial noises which is only tickling Hadi’s ears at best and encouraging those power crazy PN and Pas fanatics to ignore royalties decrees! PM said he will use the authority given to him but the mere fact that you are not using it on the likes of Hadi only goes to show you can only bark but scared to bite.
Likewise when old man Tun threatens with racist narratives you also threaten but have no balls to act we can only conclude that you just cakap only. Nothing heroic about this. The raayat wants to see some action on your part to demonstrate that your word means law!!!
At this rate they will soon bring your unity government down!! You have control over the enforcement agencies or is this just a figment of your imagination. After all almost all we’re appointed by the previous government???
apanama is back : The more our PM Anwar issue statements after statements, the more the other side will become bolder to carry out their extremism statements and activities. PM Anwar has the opportunity to meet the King on EVERY Wednesday.
He should be using this opportunity to discuss this matter with the King. Before PM Anwar could take any actions (I prefer him to take action now), he may ask the King and his brothers to do something. There is a possibility that Hadi may AGAIN go against the royal decree. Then the PM should move in. It is important for the PM to gather as much as evidences to take action against Hadi.
Read it all here.............Moreover, Hadi go against a state Sultan's decree. This could be the reason why our PM could not take any action. He could only warn Hadi as he did. Once our King issues another decree and if Hadi goes against it, it will become Federal issue. Now the ball is in the royal court. If all do not work, finally use SOSMA as a last resort.
