Anwar’s strategic charm offensive in opposition states By Commander S THAYAPARAN (Retired) Royal Malaysian Navy

Malaysiakini : "It wants to show that the presence of PN state governments is accepted by the Pakatan Harapan-led federal government - that they are not threatened and there is no urgency for voters to vote for PN, no matter what or who the local candidate is."

– Political scientist Wong Chin Huat

COMMENT | Kudos to Anwar Ibrahim’s team for carrying out a Raya charm offensive in opposition-controlled states. Taking the PM’s Aidilfitri open house out of Putrajaya and taking it to the Malay heartland is a good strategic move for this unity government.

Sure, the denials that this has nothing to do with the forthcoming state elections are nonsensical but this is pure political theatre and is exactly what people in opposition-controlled states need to see.

BluePanther4725 : Anwar is the leader our country needs by being a moderate muslim and helping all Malaysians especially the poor. So far, Anwar and his team are doing a good job. Hadi and PAS feel threatened as they have nothing else to offer to the people except religious extremism.

And Singapore would like to see Malaysia worse off as this will cut away the competition. So we need to take the review by Singapore with a pinch of salt. Whether PH win elections or not, Anwar should continue to do the right thing and the people will know and appreciate it.
