“Racist” German Cartoon On India’s Population Triggers Outrage

A cartoon by German magazine Der Spiegel has grabbed headlines. It’s about India’s population overtaking China’s. Specifically, India’s depiction in it has created a stir. New Delhi calls it “racist”. What is the controversy all about?

As an US citizen, I've been amazed with the education and tenacity of India's citizens for over 30+ years!!! I must admit a takes me some time to become accustomed to speech inflections. The citizens are amazing, their culture is diverse, we all benefit from each other!

The people I've encountered here in the USA are wonderful, humble, a joy to interact with and I wish them continued success in their endeavors!! I am from Nairobi Kenya and India's growth in all sectors is astonishing. The Western nations close their ears and eyes wishing and dreaming of the old days.

The best is yet to come and shame them. It is reasonable for India to feel offended. As a Chinese person, I have also witnessed many discriminatory expressions from Westerners. If you don't express anger, they will only become more unreasonable.

I am not offended as an Indian. This kind of narrative will die with time. India is rising and we will continue to rise.
