As soon as we heard her speak when she got in we saw an authentic highly intelligent leader in action. She was immediatley attacked by Von De Leyen who has none of these qualities but does behave as an extremely authoritarian autocrat. Wish we had her in the UK and France.
A few years back, I had the good fortune to travel to Italy on regular occasions, but only for brief visits each time. I was mainly engaged around a city called Bergamo, east of Milan (which I also went to when I could over there). What struck me every day, was the absolute culture of the place.
Not only the buildings and the art; the physical - that is a "given" in any European nation - but the way people went about their business. Invariably, men would be dressed in business suits, or clothes appropriate to their trade - fair enough, but every woman I saw who was over 30 years old, was always turned out immaculately, with perfectly-styled hair, neat and classy clothes and the occasional light neck-scarf.
I also noticed rather quickly, the intonation employed by natives when speaking their language there - it is not speech - it is singing! The varying tones of voice they use when talking sounds like a song, with so many alterations in pitch! I observed internally on many occasions, that it was a world away from the UK, where women traipse with their snotty kids to the shops, wearing pyjamas, dressing-gowns or "one-sies"!
Just illiterate, ignorant peasants. In terms of style, the Italians put us to shame. (A generalisation of course, but on balance, I reckon I am on safe ground). Now they have a leader in the form of Meloni, I want to move there for sure, but away from where the illegals congregate - I saw what they get up to as well, when I was over there.
