DAP's Ng to blame for blocking unilateral conversion bill - PAS leader By Low Choon Chyuan

Malaysiakini : STATE POLLS | Selangor PAS secretary Roslan Shahir Mohd Shahir blamed DAP for blocking the proposed amendment for unilateral conversion of minors to be raised in the Selangor state legislative assembly sitting.

He said the incumbent speaker Ng Suee Lim is behind the reason for the amendment being rejected. Speaking to PN supporters in Kampung Sungai Yu, Tanjong Karang last night, he urged them to defeat the DAP’s Sekinchan candidate if possible.

Roslan (above) said certain quarters including the Selangor Islamic Religious Council (Mais) wanted to amend the state enactment.   At present, the enactment reads that those below 18 must obtain the consent of his or her "mother and father" before embracing Islam. The amendment sought to change this to "mother or father."

“We were worried that after the daughter is returned back to the mother, she will live in a non-Islamic society; what will happen to the religion of the children? “From my understanding from our assemblypersons, this issue has been briefed to all assemblypersons, meaning that the superior levels of Mais has approved.

“But when it comes to the state assembly sitting, it was rejected, no discussion at all. Why? Because the speaker is from DAP, that one assemblyperson from Sekinchan whom we want to defeat,” he said.

Hmmmmmmmm : “How dare he block matters involving Muslims, what does it have to do with him?” This Roslan must be very thick. If conversion doesn't involve non-Muslims, who does it involve?

I didn't know about this before but if the Selangor Speaker did as what you said, I say 'well done'. He did the right thing to protect all non-Muslims. Children under 18 are the responsibility of both parents in all aspects. Everybody., especially religious bodies must respect that.
