People claiming Israel is intentionally targeting civilian structures should remember that they could turn all of Gaza into a parking lot in one afternoon. They are showing great restraint by not retaliating with full force. Sadly, stuff like this will continue as long as Hamas, and people with similar views rule it Palestinian areas.
PurpleCat9452 : PMX is entitled to his own opinion. Most righteous & logical thinking person in Malaysia would condemn any killing or kidnapping of innocent people, regardless of race or religion. We do not agree to the selective “double-standard”
LimePanther5220 : Hamas leaders, staying in comfort and safety in another country, are using the Palestinians as pawns. They lit the fire by committing extremely inhumane attacks, knowing the response they will get. Now they are telling the Palestinians to stay put and not to evacuate.
There are reports that they took away the travel documents of some of the fleeing Palestinians at check points so that they stay back and act as human shield. So, where is this madness coming from, if not from the Hamas leaders themselves? PM Anwar, put yourself in the shoes of the Jews. Would you be a nice guy and not attack when you are faced with enemies and unfriendly nations all around, ready to annihilate you?
I’m sure you will be shivering like jelly and trigger-happy. And, by the way, how sure are you that the missiles that hit the hospital in Gaza were not from Hamas themselves who are using the Palestinian people as pawns?
Kilimanjaro : Why lit a fire and then when it spirals out of control cry and cry. Actually, Hamas is not a small baby. It may have wanted this kind of response hoping other players like Hezbullah will enter the fray. Now that the fire had started consuming the forest, and surrounded by hostile Muslim countries and having been threatened with annihilation since its inception, Israel's insecurity is understandable.
Unfortunately Hamas is the worst enemy for the Gaza people. Israel has a very vibrant democracy. Once Hamas came into power there were no more elections. The Muslim nations need to drive into Hamas that a vibrant democracy led by a civil govt is absolutely necessary to ease tensions. Instead, by choosing Hamas the people of Gaza chose "war" over peace. Then this is what you get.
There were many countries that condemned the bulldozing plan and attitude of the Trump administration. If peace is to have a chance, the Gazans are not going to get it as long as Hamas and its hostile actions prevent the attainment of peace. There is already a view that the Hamas's attack was timed to put the brakes on the establishment of diplomatic ties between Israel and Saudi Arabia.
And the Saudis have announced that for now those efforts have been cold-storaged. Unsurprisingly, there is nothing much the Muslim countries can do to reign in Hamas. Now that Iran and Hezbullah are encircling Israel, the country has more than enough reasons to explain away the hostile environment with which it has to operate. Hamas must be laughing - that its intended goal is slowly becoming a reality.
There are three important considerations when triggering a war. To begin with, you must be sure that you can win that war. Second, if you can't then it will be sensible to go the negotiating table. Third, what kind of opponent you are dealing with. Of course, this is an unfair world. The Americans and most western nations will stand solidly behind Israel. Order was given for the Gerald Ford aircraft carrier to the vicinity of the hostile region almost the next second.
There are no nations that will send theirs to assist the Palestinians and Gazans. Whether it is at home or anywhere else in the world, there will always be this cry that not all is fair. When Yazidi girls as young as nine were raped and enslaved in the name of Islam, we never heard from our Muslim leaders condemning ISIS for those actions. So, you can't hold a moral that accepts the obverse side of a coin but rejects the reverse side.
In Sri Lanka, the internal strife saw civilian deaths of what has been claimed as more than 70,000 deaths. These were civilians and 90,000 women made widows. The civilians were indiscriminately bombed and hospitals were blasted away despite being identified by the Red Cross. The Sri Lankan regime used the terrorism excuse to kill thousands of innocent civilians, deprived of food, water, electricity and medicine.
The world is not fair alright.Sounds eerily familiar. But when Tamils here wanted to extend moral support, the Malay Govt didn't have even an ounce of sympathy and branded that as supporting terrorism. And in the initial meeting in the UNHRC, this country supported a bloody regime. Terrorists are terrorists anywhere but what about civilians, mostly women and children. You cannot extract support and sympathy now when it concerns Muslims when you looked the other way when it happened to civilians in another part of the world.
