Isn’t Ketuanan Melayu similar to Political Zionism? Are Malaysian speaking from a moral highground?

Murray Hunter : Teachers at the boy’s school deleted all the photos that they had shared with parents from their recent Palestinian solidarity activity. While Malaysians, including school children are demonstrating against Political Zionism, the question has to be asked, how similar of Ketuanan Melayu (Malay Supremacy) to Political Zionism?

Political Zionism is concerned about having a homeland, and protecting the (nation) for the Jewish people. Political Zionism hypothesizes that Jews are the chosen people by Allah (Yahwah), a word that originated in the Hebrew Bible. Thus, the Jews are the supreme race, and have first preference over land, economy, and prosperity, over other races.

This is reflected in their approach to security, survival, and economy. The three major tenants of Political Zionism are religion, economics, and political governance. Thus, religion is orthodox, the economy is designed to benefit the Jews, and the government is run by a group of the Jewish elite. The segregation and repression of the Palestinian people is a consequence of Political Zionism.

In the Malaysian Constitution Malays have been defined as Bumiputeras, and the rightful people of the Peninsula they live upon. In practice, the rights of Malays exceed other Bumiputeras, through the use of bureaucratic bodies. The Orang Asli have been regularly evicted from their traditional lands to make way for land developments of crony corporations.
