As I sit and ponder this morning, it's a morbid irony in our lives. We fought the enemy, without questioning. We kept the nation peaceful, so that the government and its people can be safe and go about their businesses.
As everyone else knows, we grow old and have to leave active service life, to enjoy the peace we created. We now thoroughly enjoy the rest and prime time with family and friends, which we never had while fighting the insurgency.
Sadly, this government and people have easily forgotten our sacrifices! We matter no more as the job's been done, as the current servicemen and service women do. Be warned my fellow comrades at arms, you will also face the same dilemma as your time shall also come, as sure as the sun rises.
I chatted with a cabinet minister yesterday and was pleasantly surprised when he sympathised with the veterans cause for fair pensions. What a humdinger! Sympathy does not keep us and our better halfs alive, actions do! This government fails to understand and deliver the very simple principle of fairness to the rights of veterans.
All we ask is restore our rightful pensions, no apologies needed, you know who has erred. We fought to keep the nation's sovereignty, now we fight the very same government to seek justice for our lives. How did we end up here? No guessing required, it's all about politics, which we stayed away from for good reason in service.
Well, truth will always triumph and my faith in God and King remains, but for Country I have lesser respect now. I love my country but am embarassed by my pension. God bless my fellow veterans. DAULAT TUANKU

We who served hoping that our parents will live comfortably in their twilight years have been screwed by successive UMNO governments, now by the Madani Government in our twilight years too.
I've been saying this some time back - making so much time and effort in rescuing an acknowledged Plundering Idiot that enriched himself, family and cronies - stealing the country blind - and yet, fighting tooth & nail against giving what's actually due to old veterans who had given their best years in the defence of the country!
Many of whom are in the B40, and one foot already in the 6ft hole! Almost half of them I've spent in the jungles of Sabah (Dogoton & Sibumbong, Bangi Island), Sarawak & Peninsula Malaysia! This Maidani Govt has got all its priorities wrong! Enough Said!Yes, but who's fault is it?
Sheikh Madani's words count for zilch. Patriotism is supporting your country all the time, and your government when it deserves it - Mark Twain. Right now, it does not deserve our supportInstead of recovering stolen monies, we keep seeing corruption cases being dropped or given DNAAs, and other sweet deals given to corrupted politicians! Face it - we're today "dispensable" & "inconsequential" an entity, insofar as PMX's evaluation of his power bases are considered! πππ- By Lt Col (Retired)
