Lost Hindu Temple Under a Mosque - Jogulamba Devi Temple

This powerful Shakti Peetham is located in Alampur that is about 215 kilometers away from Hyderabad

Discover one of India's most astonishing hidden gems – a sacred site where history, spirituality, and mystery intertwine! Join me as we explore a powerful Shaktipeetha housing not one, but nine ancient temples dedicated to God Shiva, along with numerous other shrines.

This incredible place, steeped in legend and lore, is home to Goddess Jogulamba, depicted in her fierce form, seated on a corpse, a testament to her immense power. Intriguingly, an underground water tank surrounds the temple, believed to cool the Goddess's intense energy. But the story doesn't end there.

This sacred complex bears the scars of history. In 1390 CE, the Bahmani Sultans partially destroyed the temple, building a graveyard and a mosque within its grounds. These structures remain today, a poignant reminder of the past, with remnants of ancient Vigrahas scattered throughout.

Situated on the banks of the holy Tungabhadra River, the site is also surrounded by other historic temples, including the Sangameshwara Swamy Temple, Papanashana Temple, and Surya Narayana Swamy Temple, which we'll also explore. the 6th-century saint Rasa Siddha, known for his ability to transmute base metals into gold, played a role in building these temples with the help of Chalukya King Pulakesi II.
