The Long Awaited Streamlining Of Veterans Pensions

The Forgotten Veterans Of Malaysia

In about a week, we veterans shall face another day in court judgement. The government of the day is still not convinced that our pensions are unjustified and unconstitutional. They appealed the high court judgement.

Meanwhile, many more have passed away and their widows face a bleak future in these challenging times. Hey, PMX and the MADANI government, what more do you want from us? We bled for the nation, you did not.

We suffered the most disruptions in our family life, you didn't. Now, we wither away like dry leaves on trees. We are seeking justice and fair play, yet you deny us this. There is no indication whatsoever of the sincerity or the truth that you claim to support. We gave our all at the best times of our lives, but now are forced to face humiliating economic challenges.

GIVE US BACK OUR PRIDE AND DIGNITY THAT YOU TOOK AWAY FROM US WITHOUT ADJUSTING OUR PENSIONS. YOU RELEGATED US TO SECOND CLASS CITIZENS WHEN WE ONCE STOOD TALL AT OUR BORDERS TO DEFEND OUR SOVEREIGNTY. DON'T MAKE US INTO BEGGARS WHEN WE DESERVE MORE AS HEROES.

Many Malaysian veterans, particularly those who served during the Malayan Emergency (1948-1960) and the subsequent Indonesian Confrontation (1962-2013), have been overlooked and struggle to receive adequate recognition or support.

These veterans, often from diverse ethnic backgrounds, faced significant sacrifices and dangers during these conflicts, yet their contributions have been largely forgotten by the wider society. Malaysia’s first wars fought as a nation are now forgotten, laments jungle veteran.
