Malaysiakini : Dear Mr Prime Minister,
While you were preparing to bask in the company of Donald Trump and rub shoulders with world leaders, your aides may have missed - or deliberately overlooked - a scandal that eclipsed even the impromptu dancing on the tarmac of Kuala Lumpur International Airport.
From The Guardian in the UK to The Globe and Mail in Canada, from Taipei Times to Deccan Herald in India, one word described our beloved nation: “Cheats.”
The Independent reported: “Fifa accused Malaysia of submitting ‘fraudulent documentation’ to suggest that several of its foreign-born players were eligible to compete for the country, which amounted to ‘pure and simple, a form of cheating.’”
The BBC echoed: “Fifa accuses Malaysia of faking foreign-born players' eligibility.” Even CBS, a network that rarely covers football (or soccer as the Americans call it), headlined: “Fifa accuses Malaysia FA of using 'doctored documentation' to field ineligible players.”
This, Mr Prime Minister, is the legacy forged under your watch. While you projected a modern, global Malaysia on the world stage, your administration presided over a scheme that has made us a pariah in international sport.
The integrity of our nation has been hollowed out - not by foreign critics, but by the hands of sports officials aided by our own government. The good name of the country has been dragged through the mud, and the moniker “cheats” appears to be stuck.
Me : What a bloody disgrace! This is pure sodomizing the People of Malaysia without lubricants! Where is the guy with the 🇮🇩 sounding name, an unelected minister to answer this scandal ?
Hmmmmmmmm : “Hang up your boots. Focus on your books.” This has already happened to the NMs . With no support from the government whether to secure scholarships, enter into local universities or finding a job in the civil service, life for NMs is tough in this country.
No NM parent in his/her right mind would allow their children to focus on sports. The MMs thought they had it good by excluding the NMs from football so that they have less competition but now realise that it is not so fun losing every time they play. No team worth their salt wants to play with us or in our tournaments.
So, rather than backing down and formulate policies to help NMs so that they can feel at ease playing sports, they rather hire foreigners who have absolutely no ties to us. So much so that even the MM players are crowded out of the team. Had FAM not been exposed, our future teams would be exclusively foreign. I think the term for it is 'karma' . You reap what you sow.
Read it all here......."No public servant would dare to break the law intentionally unless he can rely on the “saya yang menurut perintah” (I who follows orders)" The above goes without saying. If it was just a low level civil servant's idea to forge the documents, he would have been not only sacked but possibly in jail now. And our loudmouth and his supporters would have camped in front of his house.
