Don't stop us from rejoicing, DAP disciplinary chief tells 'crook lovers'

Malaysiakini : In a move certain to inflame tensions between Umno and DAP, Tony Pua launched a blistering attack on Najib Abdul Razak’s supporters, labelling them “lovers of a crook” for condemning those celebrating the court’s verdict in the former premier’s case.

The DAP disciplinary chief asserted that both he and his party take pride in having played a pivotal role in the kleptocrat’s downfall and continued incarceration.“There is absolutely no need to sympathise with such a crook,” he said in a social media post.

“Those chastising us to have 'humanity', who continue to love the crook - no one's stopping you. But don't stop the rest of us Malaysians from celebrating justice upheld. “Looking forward to his next conviction later this week,” he added, referring to the upcoming court verdict on Dec 26 in Najib’s 1MDB-related case involving RM2.3 billion.

‘Najib already got massive discount’

Pua, who relentlessly pursued the 1MDB scandal during Najib’s tenure as prime minister, also noted that the “biggest crook in Malaysia” should instead be grateful for the “massive discount” he received when the Pardons Board halved his prison sentence and reduced his fine.

Commentable : UMNO and other parties talking under the same breath should take a moment to reflect. They certainly would do well if they accept the fact that Najib is a crook who has embezzled billions of ringgit with the help of enablers.

The humongous sum of money belongs to Malaysia, and not to any one individual. Billions in RM is so much money, it affects the whole nation's economic stability and future pathway to development. He is certainly not a victim, so empathy should not even be used to describe his legal conundrum.

Don't ever use this word empathy to label a traitor to this beloved country of ours. Very evidently, people who still supports this convicted crook don't understand the meaning of treason on the one hand and patriotism on the other. These two words are poles apart, so it's either you make stand one way or the other.

Tony, being a DAP leader, has made his stand and presumably for the party too (my guess only). Many right thinking Malaysians, including myself, would take the same stand too. There is no sane reason in this world to support a crook and a national traitor. Judges would be hard pressed to find legal justification to reverse any kind of verdict that favours him.

Any verdict is substantiated and based on solid evidence, and such evidence are not only found in this country but found scattered all over the world, including the USA. So please, stop all these charade. It's rude, unpleasant, uncouth and blatantly unpatriotic.
