Anwar calls for Maduro's release

Malaysiakini : ‘Not surprising’

In a separate statement, DAP international affairs secretary Kasthuri Patto noted that Venezuelans celebrating Maduro's ousting is not surprising.

"Under Maduro, opposition leaders have been jailed indefinitely on fabricated and made-up accusations, gross erosion of human rights through extrajudicial killings and the squashing of civil liberties, resulting in almost eight million Venezuelans fleeing his rule and dictatorship and seeking refuge in other countries," she said.

However, she stressed that the US' attack on Venezuela and forced removal of the president will not repair the country's institutions, and called for de-escalation.

IndigoLion4899 : The world do not need cruel Dictators who murder and impoverish their own Citizens. He was warned many times to stop exporting drugs to USA.

CareOneCareAll : Sometimes its better to keep quiet so that people don't know about your "stupidity" ? Can't even solve local problems, yet always blurting away at other countries' problems.

LimeHorse5802 : A wiser approach would be to remain silent for now, or at most issue a neutral statement along the lines of “monitoring the situation to ascertain the facts before taking a position.”

According to the official account from the U.S. Vice President, the Venezuelan president was arrested to face charges in the United States related to drug proliferation, alongside claims over the return of oil assets said to rightfully belong to the U.S.

Framed this way, it is presented not as an abduction or an attempt at regime change. The stated position is that the U.S. will temporarily manage the country and eventually hand it back to the Venezuelan people once conditions are deemed ready.

One may reasonably argue that this is a smokescreen, but there is little value in rushing to commentary before the situation has settled and facts are clearer. In the meantime, it may be more constructive to focus on one’s own country.

Venezuela is a sobering example: despite possessing vast oil reserves, its citizens have endured prolonged economic hardship. That reality alone offers a lesson for leaders everywhere.

GP2025 : Who’s making this noise nobody notices? He was supposed to have brokered the peace between Thailand and Cambodia but they went on breaking it until China intervened. And he still want to interfere in other nations’ affairs. He doesn’t understand protocol, does he? And a lot of other things as well!

Veteran 1972 : Hello Sheikh please streamline the pensions of Veterans who left the service before 2013, they are destitute. Resolve their problems first before interfering in the affairs of countries who did zilch for Malaysia!

Semua Cakap Lain Bikin Lain : Better Focus on Malaysia, its people, its economy, the corruption and find Indira Gandhi’s daughter who has been ‘captured’ and missing for the last 16 years.

GreenFalcon2290 : Oh, gosh, the mighty AI has spoken. Can understand what with so many international crises where his towering intellect is brought to bear, he doesn't have the time to look at matters at home, where a mere 10 million live as second class citizens and have so done for close to 70 years.

Oh, you didn't know that, Anwar? Ah, I see. Well, you are not alone. Your predecessors didn't notice either, but what's 70 years among friends, right? Right.

Just Common Sense : Our hero has no comment on TBH, Koh, Amri, Ruth, Helmy and indira Gandhi husband and child. Here he is helpless and ball-less.
