Malaysiakini : “In the real world, equal respect for all cultures doesn't translate into a rich mosaic of colourful and proud peoples interacting peacefully while maintaining a delightful diversity of food and craftwork. It translates into closed pockets of oppression, ignorance, and abuse.”
- Ayaan Hirsi Ali, author of “Nomad: From Islam to America: A Personal Journey Through the Clash of Civilizations”
COMMENT | This is exactly what Home Minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail implied when he said this of Madani’s persecution of the “Mentega Terbang” filmmakers - “(the) film advocated religious pluralism and liberalism that can cause Muslims to question their faith.”
If this is the case, did the home minister question his faith when he watched the movie? Now, if he did, then I would understand why Madani wants to persecute these filmmakers. But if he did not, then what could be the reason?
Steven Ong : Mentega Terbang can not alter the faith of any one but can influence anyone who watch it and hence the guardians of a political pursuit will find any means to prevent a race from watching it.
Changing faith is a decision by those who beleived there is a better way . That religion actually is not a religion but a political pursuit disguised under a religion and its modus aperandi is altering the mindsets of those who unknowingly listen and believed in it after hearing it for many times.
As long as the minds is dead and can not reason further, whatever that can influence a follower to seek further and a better path, will be prevented with force as they are the authority.
That is not a religion but a political advancement disguised as a religion and altering the mindsets of those who unknowingly listen and believed in it after hearing it for many times.
VioletQuokka1493 : Are Muslims so weak in their belief that a film like this one can cause apostasy. This is the Malay/ Muslim elite who tries to control what Malays can read or watch.
Malays are so controlled that they can’t think and use their critical thinking skills. They have been having IV drips for everything and anything and this minister is perpetuating this practice. It is too much to expect any change anytime soon.
darmakochi : "Ramli Ibrahim had said that with the Arabisation of the Malays came the rejection of some of their own indigenous cultural practices." This is very serious.
If this continues there will be nothing left of present Malay culture in future! They will be behaving like the Arabs. If this happens they may even abandon our Malay language!! And the Malay language is our national language!!!
Sealthedeal : A few religious biggots reported the film for hurting their religious feelings. How ridiculous is that. How ridiculous is the law that allows it? How many Muslims here have insulted other religions and got away with it? Many.
Read it all here......Apostasy is a one way street in this country. Muslims can convirt non Muslims but the other way around and people get abducted and never heard of again despite the authorities naming the suspects. What kind of religion allows this? A virtuous one or a dark one in the hands of those here weilding the power?
