Latheefa: Probe into Bloomberg just like Najib's reaction to 1MDB exposé By Zikri Kamarulzaman

Malaysiakini : The police probing Bloomberg over its report on alleged MACC wrongdoing is just like how the Najib Abdul Razak administration reacted against the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) over its 1MDB exposé, said lawyer Latheefa Koya.

The Lawyers for Liberty co-founder said it’s a tactic that is likely to backfire on the Madani government. “It’s the same playbook. Furious denials and threats of criminal action against the news outlets. It didn’t save Najib, it won’t save Madani,” she told Malaysiakini.

“If (the report is) untrue, why this desperate reaction? Why not just form an independent body to thoroughly investigate the Bloomberg claims?” she added.

Anon2000 : Latheefa, if it’s the same as Najib’s 1MDB investigation, does this mean Anwar will be going to prison again?

CareOneCareAll : AB going against Bloomberg in open court will be distrastous for him and his supporters. Bloomberg will not allow any false articles to be published as it have a much higher standard of due care and corporate governance.

Like they said, don't stir the hornet's nest or else you will be bitten. If you are caught with your pant down, better pull it up instead of covering your face first and deny it as people already recognised you.

GanMu : Our dear Latheefa. I was wondering where were you when this scandal broke out. You are honestly a God-sent leader for us. You are someone who speaks the truth and is not afraid to hold truth to power.

Just like CJ Tengku Maimun was the power house for the Judiciary, you are indeed the powerhouse for all of us. You have without an iota of doubt thrown the ball in Anwar's court. Let us see if he has any justifications for the course of action being taken.

The Cabinet has become a boneless body merely succumbing to the PM's demands. It so called decided to appoint the Chief Secretary as Chairman of the task force. All of a sudden, we hear AG making his maiden appearance to become Chairman.

Now who has gone against the Cabinet's decision? Anwar himself I guess, got cold feet and opted for AG. What on earth is going on? All for just one man who apparently happens to be the most powerful man overtaking Anwar.

OCT : It is strange and odd that Azam seems to be the only senior Govt civil servant who has a penchant for shares trading whereas the rest knows that it is against Govt regulations.

Azam seems to know that nothing can be brought against him as he was cleared for a similar incidents as long as he declares. However, declaring his share portfolio is very much different from owning shares worth than Govt stipulated guidelines.

Getting PDRM to go after Bloomberg for false and malicious reporting is not so simple as it is. Bloomberg office is in USA. In USA, Bloomberg is protect by their 1st amendment of their constitution which is free speech.

It will be a long process and expensive affairs for Azam even when PDRM finds Bloomberg to be in fault so that Azam can sue Bloomberg. However, this could be an entrapment set by Bloomberg so that when there is US court hearing, Bloomberg will review more disclosures which might be detrimental to Azam.

This is a different level of playing field where there is no 2R preferences, protection and/or supremacy. Bloomberg and WSJ are media modules who can face any court battle with ease. They did their homework before exposing the incident.

Azam must get a US lawyer to represent him in US. Our hot shot lawyer is not allowed to represent Azam in US as he is not certified to practice in US. Bloomberg can go all the way but can Azam do the same? This is becoming a 1st class international news for all to watch.

Sealthedeal : This perhaps the final nail in the coffin of this disastrous alliance. PKR hang your heads low. You have sold out the rakyat once too often.

apanama is back : Anwar is still stuck in the 90s and willing to combine both his mentor, who turned nemesis, playbook, plus Najib's. He will outperform both of them before being kicked out.

Usually, the so-called internal probe is to reach an NFA conclusion for their own 'syiok sendiri' mentality. Even before the probe, Bukit Aman said it was investigating defamatory statements.

So what is the probe all about, and where will it lead? Are Malaysians fools for believing all this drama, like FAM and 1MDB?
