NST : BESUT: The boat driver involved in a capsize off Pulau Perhentian that killed three people — including two children — tested positive for drugs and has been arrested.

Besut police chief Superintendent Azamuddin Ahmad @ Abu said the man, in his 20s, has five prior drug-related offences and is being held to assist investigations.

In the 10.30pm incident last night, the boat — carrying 15 passengers aged between three and 40 — capsized during a storm, with rough seas and heavy rain.

The dead were identified as S. Arumugam, 40; his daughter A. Sarrvihka, 3; and a 10-year-old relative, V. Vennpani. Twelve others, including a six-year-old child in critical condition, were taken to Besut Hospital.

Azamuddin said investigations revealed none of the passengers were wearing life jackets at the time. He told the public to prioritise safety while on holiday and reminded boat operators to follow all regulations, especially the mandatory use of life jackets.

The question to ask is why are the boat operators not being charged for murder. Boat operator was an "Orang Kita". Why is he not being charged for murder? Look at the names of the victims.
