COMMENT - If the law supposes that, the law is an ass R Nadeswaran

Badrul

Malaysiakini : COMMENT | “What you don’t know won’t hurt you,” goes the adage. But in law, the opposite is true: ignorantia juris non excusat - ignorance of the law excuses no one.

Fair enough. You cannot plead ignorance to escape liability, but what happens when the law itself is so disconnected from common sense that ordinary people break it without even knowing?

What happens when the very official invoking that law has his own credibility issues?

Here is my problem. Since the government introduced controls on petrol subsidies last September, I have been regularly breaking the law.

BlueShark1548 : Should have been sacked , period. But this is Madani government where everything can be compromised/excused .It can be very efficient when applying double standards.

Young activists are promptly arrested and its NGO accounts frozen just for having the guts to protest against MACC chief?

Open minded 2281 : Badrul should have been charged in court for treason as he allowed non citizens to become citizens disregarding the Constitution.

Starting from the Chief Secretary who does not see the need for disciplinary action on a top civil servant to all enforcement agencies, you can see the rot in the civil service. Yet someone stealing a Milo tin will promptly be charged and jailed.

WINNING Scarecrow : With 4 wives you can use 4 extra ICs to pump petrol for your car. That’s certainly not abuse. It is called privilege. (Sarcasm at it's finest!)
