Pontianak Indonesia: Big trouble here in Pontianak. Clashes between Dayak and Front Pembela Islam
Wednesday, May 24, 2017
Via Whatsapp. More than 400 Sarawakians visitors who invited as Tetamu Negara stranded in Pontianak after the clashes between Dayak and Islamic group, FPI.
Mostly of the visitors are from Dayak associations visitors going to Pesta Gawai,
Datuk Joseph Salang is one of the VIPs.
The army and commandos chased the protestors. The Dayaks are ready with their parangs and wood to fight them just now. 1000 vs 7000 body guards because these Muslims organized a march to protest against a Dayak Christian Governor. Just like they did to Jakarta Chinese Christian Governor.
As they have removed The governor of Jakarta, they now want to remove the governor of East Kalimantan, Cornelis, who is an Iban and Christian.
These happened in Pontianak today, Dayak vs Melayu over religious issue. Front Pembela Islam, who are the ones against Govenor Ahok...they tried to get rid of the Governor of West Kalimantan whose name is Cornelis who is a Dayak and not a Muslim...now they meet the "rock & a hard place". Those extremists were seen running for their lives hidding in Chinese shops & houses. Antagonizing Iban Dayaks is asking for trouble. They were head hunters.
The highly divisive blasphemy conviction against non-active Jakarta
governor Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama has sparked tensions in some
regions, with supporters of the Christian governor upping the ante
against the Islamist group that has been calling for his incarceration.
The situation in West Kalimantan, which saw hundreds of people killed
in two bloody ethnic conflicts in 1996/1997 and 2001, is particularly
worrying as rising sectarian tensions in the capital have reignited
suspicions among different religious and ethnic groups in the province.
Mercelina Erni, 46, a Christian resident in the province’s capital
Pontianak said she had heard rumors, mainly from social media, that
raids were imminent against Dayak people and Christians. “I had to take down the rosary I used to hang on the rearview mirror
of my car when I heard the rumors,” she told The Jakarta Post on Sunday. Read it all here.................. Brings back a bloody reminder : The Indonesian government acknowledged today that 118 Madurese migrants on the Indonesian half of Borneo island were slaughtered by a mob of indigenous Dayak fighters over the weekend after police who were supposed to protect them fled.
