Rudyard Kipling"
āWhen you're left wounded on Afganistan's plains and
the women come out to cut up what remains, Just roll to your rifle
and blow out your brains,
And go to your God like a soldierā
General Douglas MacArthur"
āWe are not retreating. We are advancing in another direction.ā
āIt is fatal to enter any war without the will to win it.ā āOld soldiers never die; they just fade away.
āThe soldier, above all other people, prays for peace, for he must suffer and be the deepest wounds and scars of war.ā
āMay God have mercy upon my enemies, because I won't .ā āThe object of war is not to die for your country but to make the other bastard die for his.
āNobody ever defended, there is only attack and attack and attack some more.
āIt is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died. Rather we should thank God that such men lived.
The Soldier stood and faced God
Which must always come to pass
He hoped his shoes were shining
Just as bright as his brass
"Step forward you Soldier,
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My Church have you been true?"
"No, Lord, I guess I ain't
Because those of us who carry guns
Can't always be a saint."
I've had to work on Sundays
And at times my talk was tough,
And sometimes I've been violent,
Because the world is awfully rough.
But, I never took a penny
That wasn't mine to keep.
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep,
The Soldier squared his shoulders and said
And I never passed a cry for help
Though at times I shook with fear,
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.
I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fears.
If you've a place for me here,
Lord, It needn't be so grand,
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't, I'll understand."
There was silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod
As the Soldier waited quietly,
For the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now, you Soldier,
You've borne your burden well.
Walk peacefully on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in Hell."
Ah, Malaysia. How wonderful, how stable. Such a robust economy with wonderful exports, such as semiconductors, palm oil, and now, foreign interference. Welcome back, sepupus!
If youāve been on the internet recently, youād know that India and Pakistan are on the verge of a war. If youāre reading this at any time after the time this video was published, thereās a chance that it already is a full-blown war. Either way, war is horrible, war is deplorable.
And so, it was an interesting surprise when everyone received a hero that nobody needed ā Anwar Ibrahim. Anwar is Prime Minister of Malaysia, but after now moving past his Prime Minister of Palestine and Prime Minister of Malaysia roles, he has now decided to take on the role of Prime Minister of Pakistan.
What a wonderful showcase of his world-leading capacities, we can see ā even as he is casually crucified by the Indian media and Firstpostās Palki Sharma for his beautiful comments on the conflict.
Now one could argue that he was simply petitioned by Pakistanās Shehbaz Sharif, Asif Munir, and Khawaja Asif because they wanted to chut pattern, as Singaporeās PAPās Sim Ann might say, and certainly, they had succeeded with past Malaysian leaders and arenāt entirely irrational to have approached Anwar⦠but quoting a slightly more English source ā those who live in glass houses should not throw stones.
Clearly, Malaysia has its fair share of troubles and has no business pointing out the issues of another country or with its minorities, even as the population of this country is casually weaponizing this issue in order to oppress the minorities in his own country.
It takes a certain suspension of disbelief, I think, to be a Prime Minister of Malaysia ā especially Anwar, who seems to still think that he is an ABIM leader, perhaps to no discredit of his own, given that ABIM came out and tried to defend him, calling India unprofessional ā as if anybody had asked them to make a statement and even as he continues a pattern of unwanted interference that is similarly characteristic of other less important people like PAS.
Why is he submitting to this kind of low-class behaviour? Is it just because, allegedly, he is part of the same group? Same faith? Manipulated by Tun Mahathir to care about this when fundamentally this is none of his business even as he forgets which country is more important at the end of the day? And even if he is, why should he be interfering in what is primarily a bilateral dispute?
The people of Malaysia generally have no idea ā both the smart ones, who realize that this is a stupid move, and the people who are too stupid to really understand global affairs in any other way apart from that if people share the same religion as me, I must support them no matter what, unconditionally, without questioning anything at all. It is truly fascinating to watch them in action ā but it is not particularly inspiring. After all, Malaysiaās Prime Minister is not a Lee Kuan Yew.
But if he would like to start?
Perhaps he can start by minding his own business.
