• He also urges the government to come up with regulations on who can hold key government positions, alluding that they should be reserved for Muslims.

In a bizarre turnaround, PAS supreme council member Zuhdi Marsuki accused DAP of stoking racial sentiments over the promotion of a non-Malay to lieutenant-general in the armed forces.

Congratulating Johnny Lim on his new post, Zuhdi questioned if DAP is looking to have a non-Muslim lead the armed forces in the future.

“Because DAP made an issue out of the matter, I want to ask if the party is looking to have a non-Muslim become the armed forces chief?

“If the DAP can say that a non-Muslim could become our prime minister, I’m sure DAP has the same thing in mind for the armed forces. Let’s see what they say,” Zuhdi said on Facebook today.

Billy_Wallace : Islam can tolerate non Muslims provided the Muslim has the upper hand over the unbeliever. There can never be equal rights in a Muslim country. 

That is why Malaysia will never sign icerd. Muslims need to reserve for Muslims only excluding others…. Muslims benefit Muslims. Muslims prefer Muslims…. Yet the world is accused of being Islamophobia. I wonder why??????

They do not even pretend that they do not discriminate the minorities, Time and time again they slap it in your face that you are a second class in this country. Next, if you do not like what they say or do, they will ask you to go back to China or India.

Vijay47 : The statement by Zuhdi Marsuki is further evidence that racism is deeply imbedded within PAS and similar parties like UMNO, notwithstanding his lunatic attempt to paint himself as a Malay-Muslim intellectual. 

It is amazing that they keep crawling out of the woodwork in droves! If Zuhdi Marsuki cares to wonder, when did the non-Malays ever demand that certain national positions be reserved for themselves? Of the huge numbers in the Armed Forces, Judiciary, universities, GLCs, and indeed the entire civil service, have the non-Malays ever insisted that the principal posts be held by non-Malays? 

All that we non-Malays ask is that these and other important positions be held by the best irrespective of race. Of course, such calls for meritocracy are deemed anti-national, anti-Malay and a host of other sins, with anti-Constitution thrown in for good measure. 

Tell me, Zuhdi Marsuki, how in heaven’s name did you conclude that protesting Zaharuddin Muhammad’s distasteful and offensive article is a prelude to non-Malays demanding that the head of the Forces should be reserved for a non-Malay? Is supporting Johnie Lim Eng Seng’s promotion to be viewed as a call that similarly, the Armed Force’s head should also be a non-Malay? 

Perhaps you could explain how this fits with the widespread support across the country for Syed Saddiq’s acquittal and more tellingly, calls for the extension of Tengku Maimun’s tenure as Chief Justice. Because they are non-Malay? 

I would suggest, Zuhdi Marsuki, Zaharuddin Muhammad, and like-minded individuals, that before you open your mouths, you take a look at the mirror. You might learn to your shock if not already known, that idiocy is a reality amongst a certain class of Malaysian politicians.
