Rudyard Kipling"
āWhen you're left wounded on Afganistan's plains and
the women come out to cut up what remains, Just roll to your rifle
and blow out your brains,
And go to your God like a soldierā
General Douglas MacArthur"
āWe are not retreating. We are advancing in another direction.ā
āIt is fatal to enter any war without the will to win it.ā āOld soldiers never die; they just fade away.
āThe soldier, above all other people, prays for peace, for he must suffer and be the deepest wounds and scars of war.ā
āMay God have mercy upon my enemies, because I won't .ā āThe object of war is not to die for your country but to make the other bastard die for his.
āNobody ever defended, there is only attack and attack and attack some more.
āIt is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died. Rather we should thank God that such men lived.
The Soldier stood and faced God
Which must always come to pass
He hoped his shoes were shining
Just as bright as his brass
"Step forward you Soldier,
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My Church have you been true?"
"No, Lord, I guess I ain't
Because those of us who carry guns
Can't always be a saint."
I've had to work on Sundays
And at times my talk was tough,
And sometimes I've been violent,
Because the world is awfully rough.
But, I never took a penny
That wasn't mine to keep.
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep,
The Soldier squared his shoulders and said
And I never passed a cry for help
Though at times I shook with fear,
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.
I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fears.
If you've a place for me here,
Lord, It needn't be so grand,
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't, I'll understand."
There was silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod
As the Soldier waited quietly,
For the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now, you Soldier,
You've borne your burden well.
Walk peacefully on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in Hell."
Malaysiakini : PARLIAMENT |
A Sarawakian MP has called on all parties to respect different food
choices, voicing his frustration over ongoing criticisms aimed at those
who consume pork, including members of his Dayak community.
Willie
Mongin (GPS-Puncak Borneo) emphasised that despite their consumption of
pork, many in his community lead upright lives and do not engage in
illegal or immoral activities. āAs a Dayak, we have never spoken badly or criticised what other people eat.
Willie Mongin
āWhile
we do eat pork, many of us donāt take bribes, abuse drugs, or do
anything weird. But we have been condemned as uncivilised for eating
pork,ā he told the Dewan Rakyat.
Therefore,
Willie urged all Malaysians to refrain from mocking the food choices of
other ethnic communities, adding he has seen a deluge of comments
disparaging pork as āsmellyā and ādirtyā on social media.
Pork
āAs
a Dayak, we have never spoken badly or criticised what other people
eat,ā he said when debating a motion of thanks on Yang di-Pertuan Agong
Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandarās royal decree.
What about budu, belacan?
The GPS lawmaker also compared the smell of pork to budu and belacan, which, according to Willie, smell worse than pigs.
āAlthough
pigs are smelly, budu and belacan are worse. But we have never insulted
(the food items). We always respect each other and obey the kingās
decree to live in harmony,ā he added.
Budu is a delicacy made from
fermented anchovies and is commonly found among the Malay community,
especially in the east coast of the peninsula. Belacan, meanwhile,
is a fermented shrimp paste that produces a pungent smell. It is used
in cooking by many ethnicities across Southeast Asia.
ScarletViper9930 : Yes preach it brother! We minorities are sick of majority race extremists insulting and offending us. Not a day pass by without some sick individuals looking down their self righteous noses on us, or oppressing us on some imagined offenses! Stop it already!
OBSERVER from Space : Very well said. Couldnāt have said any better. Itās not what one eats. Itās integrity and self respect. Get that right first.
JKT : The nation of Sarawak also doesnt believe speaking BM helps anyone. Just English / Dayak is enough.
ABC123 : We need more Malaysian leaders, not Malay,Chinese, Iban , Kadazan , Indian leaders. We need Malaysian leaders like Willie Mongin.
Anonymous_3f4b : It takes a Sarawak Dayak politician to tell facts as it is in Parliament not afraid to ruffle feathers or provoke so called sensitivities of the majority race in Semenanjung
Where are the non malay politicians in Semenanjung.
Where are the loud mouth 40 MPs from DAP, 2 MPs from MCA. 1 MP from MIC and Gerakan politicians who can speak from tte outside.
No one dare to touch on this issue for fear of angering their malay bosses in Semenanjung all out to cavort the malay votes.
apanama is back : "While we do eat pork, many of us donāt take bribes, abuse drugs, or do anything weird."
Good one.
At the Peninsula side, the 'holier than thou' actors and actresses do take bribes, abuse drugs, and do weird things like child marriage, and so on. The list goes on endlessly!
gabbar : Dear Sarawak MP ( all all Sawarakians as well ) - ypur society is more tolerant and civic minded than the Peninsula . For this u must thank all your previous and current leaders who vehemently denied that one single corrupted and racist party called UMno entry into ur state .
Unfortunately Sabah didnt and they are paying the price for that . frankly even when we meet Sarawakians here ( immaterial they are muslims or otherwise ) , they gain great respect due to their humbleness and understanding to respect other cultures and religion. U people are the Malaysians that we in Peninsula have long lost and regretfully will never find again .
