COMMENT | The upcoming Johor election will determine how the base is feeling about the DAP. All politics is local, of course, but rational Malaysians dissatisfied with how DAP has managed non-Malay issues in the era of Madani are going to see if their views are validated or rejected in this upcoming election.

Parti Bersama Malaysia, which is targeting five DAP seats, is going to discover if they have a chance of being part of the political process in this country or will they be consigned to the bin, merely a convenient online distraction.

WhitePony9855 : The Nons may be disappointed in Anwar's leadership and DAP's silence on many matters affecting the Nons. The fact that Anwar and PKR is seeking Malay support is understandable but it should not be done at the expense of the Nons. 

If that be the case then DAP appears to be a replica of MCA and MIC combined in a BN lead government. Johor will turned out to be a direction of how disappointed the Nons are with the PH performance this last 3.5 years. 

Though the situation in Johor cannot be compared to Sabah where DAP was totally rejected in view of the fact that in Sabah they have a local alternative in Warisan, it will still be a big test for DAP to convince the Nons to come out to vote. In Johor, the new party Bersama can also turned out to be spoilers.

apanama is back : For DAP, it should reflect on what it did as far as minorities’ rights are concerned for the last 3 over years. DAP voters, especially Chinese voters are pragmatic. They will shift their votes based on what the party did previously. 

Let us explore the historical trend by Chinese voters. Chinese voters had abandoned both MCA and Gerakan when there is a viable alternative, which is DAP. Before Bersama is established, Chinese voters may not have an alternative yet, thus DAP took the Chinese voters for granted and play the fearmongering game of so-called Green Wave. 

It won’t work anymore. It is NO MORE a RANT. "The upcoming Johor election will determine how the base is feeling about the DAP." Look at the Sabah election. Of course, a lot of people will argue Sabah and Johor is not same. Go to the ground and see yourself in Johor. How many Chinese are volunteering for Bersama. 

The word of mouth is spreading fast. Moreover, tomorrow is the Federal Court verdict on Syed's case. He was acquitted by Court of Appeal with a strong judgement. Most probably the Federal Court will uphold the Court of Appeal decision because the ground judgement is strong. It will be another boost for MUDA. 

Let us reflect back the past seats won by DAP in Johor state assembly. DAP won 10 seats in 2022, and lost four. In this state election, DAP is going to contest 17 seats, defending the 10 seats it won in 2022. As the above piece mentioned, Bersama is targeting five DAP seats. 

The scenario for the non-Malay voters, especially Chinese voters is either they stay out of voting or they send protest votes even in the seats that is not contested by Bersama. DAP will not face total wipe out in Johor but it will get less than 10 seats. 

That should be a good slap on Anthony Loke’s face since “cool head” has been backfired into “hot slap.” Of course, DAP will be in denial until they get a biggest slap in GE 16.
