Malaysiakini : Perpetrators of environmental crimes will face a mandatory jail sentence of not exceeding five years, said Environment and Water Minister Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man.
Read it all here.........Mandatory jail time was among the three significant amendments to the Environmental Quality Act 1974 passed at the Dewan Rakyat, which Tuan Ibrahim (above) listed on his Facebook page today.
He hoped that harsher punishment would prevent the repeat or perpetuation of environmental crimes in the country. An increase in the minimum compound value of RM2,000 to not more than 50 percent of the maximum penalty amount was another significant amendment that he listed.
Fuminghot He was useless as a minister. It was the others who had to do the research and present. Knew next to nothing about environment. Suddenly when he is not a minister anymore he opens his mouth for the last time. Nobody cares about you.
Krabian : What a joke. The idiot who thinks tigers don't like to live in the jungle is barking about environmemtal issues.
KAJANG PRISONER : But first incompetent minsters should be jailed for heading ministries but being totally blur without an iota of knowledge in areas they're supposed to manage..
