Churchill, Hitler or Hirohito? - Why Indians were Given Such a Raw Deal in WW2

In World War II, India fought for the British on the side on the Allies, except for one unit, which fought under German command. This unit was called the Tiger Legion and it was a special unit formed to help India fight for its independence.

Indian here Bose is regarded as the Lion of India, he played excellent diplomacy with the Germans and the Japanese and rallied such a huge army to confront the British Raj. Of course the ordinary Indian soldiers were not supportive of the extremist Axis ideologies, it was just a circumstance of " Enemy of the enemy is a friend". After the war, captured INA soldiers were put on the Red Fort trials by the British army in 1946, charged with treason, but the public and even the Indian armed forces mutinied against the English.

The Royal Indian Navy mutiny (an interesting topic for a video), Royal Indian Air force pilots refusing to fly their aircrafts and so on. So all in all, even if Tiger legion and INA could not directly achieve their goal of Independence, Bose's vision had set such a wave in India that the British ultimately had to leave.

There were also Irish in WWII on the side of the Germans due to the case of Ulster, even after the 1916 Revolution resulted in the rest of Ireland becoming independent.
