Jomo advised Dr M to be 'elder statesperson', retire from politics By Isabelle Leong
Advice rejected....
Now feel dejected...
After being selected..
From Langkawi ejected...
Now being subjected..
To Anwars rule not expected....
He did not like to be corrected...
But the same racial tone he accepted...
He feels malays are not respected....
With DAP in control as suspected - Loga
Malaysiakini : Former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad should have taken on the
role as an elder statesperson, said prominent economist Jomo Kwame
Sundaram.
As usual, Mahathir rejected my advice, says Jomo
In a meeting about eight months ago, Jomo offered a piece of advice to Mahathir, asking the latter to step away from politics. “I urged Mahathir to take on the role of the elder statesperson for the developing world.
“Of course, as usual, he rejected my advice and we know the consequences thereof,” he said. He said this in an online forum titled “Malaysia’s future in a
fractured world” organised by The Oxford and Cambridge Society Malaysia
on YouTube last night.

In
the 15th general election (GE15), Mahathir suffered a crushing defeat
in the Langkawi parliamentary seat, where he finished fourth in a
five-cornered fight. On Dec 16 last year, the 98-year-old politician resigned as Pejuang’s chairperson.
FellowMalaysian : Now we know Mahathir's 22-month government in 2018 wasn't a government where ministers appointed were not given the power to act.
Lim Guan Eng's many important decision-makings as the Finance Minister was only on papers.
As LGE pointed out in early March this year, he had to defy Mahathir's orders on three important reform matters.
First, to reduce PLUS highway toll rates by 18%, second to increase all MPs' development funds to RM3.8million each year and third to stop direct award of contracts without tender.
Mahathir stridently objected to each of these proposals and poor Guan Eng had to seek cabinet's approval in order to circumvent the nonagenarian's vehement objections.
So it is not surprising that Jomo Kwame's suggestion to Mahathir to take a hike from active politics eight months ago was soundly rejected by him.
Mahathir's consummate greed in staying in power knows no equal, even loosing his pants in the recent GE 15 where all his party Pejuang's 158 candidates lost their seats and deposits failed to convince him to hang up his shoes.
