PM confirms govt MPs being probed for corruption too, but no details By Isabelle Leong, Hariz Mohd & Yasmin Ramlan

Malaysiakini : PARLIAMENT | Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has confirmed that there are MPs from the government bloc who are currently being investigated for corruption.

Speaking in the Dewan Rakyat today, Anwar revealed that there are probes against lawmakers from both sides of the political divide. However, he said he did not have any specific knowledge of the investigations.

“I know there are investigations involving those in the opposition and the government but I don’t know their positions.   “I only asked the enforcement agencies and they confirmed that there are investigations. “Whether the prosecution is made or not, that is up to the enforcement body which is the Attorney-General’s Chambers,” Anwar said during the Prime Minister’s Question Time today.

He was responding to Siti Zailah Mohd Yussof (Perikatan Nasional-Rantau Panjang) who asked whether there have been graft probes into lawmakers from the government bloc.

In a supplementary question, Siti also queried if there are investigations into the source of funds of the government’s component parties so that there are no disputes or claims of selective prosecution.
