Malaysiakini : Umno Youth chief Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh has called on his wing members nationwide to lodge police reports against Malaysiakini and its columnist Andrew Sia. This came in response to the columnist’s piece the news portal published yesterday, in which Sia branded UiTM as an "apartheid academy".

Akmal demanded that Sia make a public apology for his writing and also urged Malaysiakini to take down the article from its website. "Calling UiTM an apartheid academy was such an insolent act that calls for action.

"I strongly call for Malaysiakini to take down this article and for Sia to apologise immediately. "Due to this insolence, Umno Youth is also mobilising its members to lodge reports against Malaysiakini and Sia," he said in a statement today.

FellowMalaysian : Andrew Sia should be praised and eulogised rather than condemned as suggested by Akmal Salleh or his acolytes in his concern shown for the non-Malays who have been deprived of their rightful places in the many public institutions of higher learning and in particular in UiTM because of its total ban against any intake of non-Bumiputra students.

UiTM went one step further in its apartheid policies when the college accepts foreign students in all its courses but refused to accept nary a single Chinese or Indian.

While UiTM is a public college funded totally by the government through taxes collected from chiefly the Chinese as attested by Mahathir, it is hypocritical for Akmal to draw parity with SJKCs and SKJTs because these schools accept Malay students besides Chinese and Indians and they are funded mainly by private concerns and individuals.

Akmal is the person who should apologise to Malaysiakini and Andrew Sia for instigating public disorder.

Vijay47 : Andrew Sia was being rather gentlemanly when he referred to UITM as an “apartheid academy”; going by the pathetic antics of the students, staff, and supporters of that body, I would describe it as an “extremist educational establishment”, keeping in touch with Andrew’s use of alliteration.

However, turning then to Komrad Doktor Muhamad Akmal Saleh’s demands for an apology and calls for police reports, I would fully agree with him though not quite in the direction he envisages.

The fanatics in Malaysia owe a statement of regret to all communities in Malaysia, especially the non-Malays, to borrow from Anwar Ibrahim’s immortal words, for the shameful abuse and exploitation of the Constitution to serve racist objectives.

As long as national funds are employed for national aims, the non-Malays cannot be left out of the equation. After all, it is money essentially provided by us that you now shamelessly demand be used to meet your “solely for Malays” purposes.

Such apartheid cries, yes apartheid, can be relied upon when Muhamad Akmal Saleh’s urgings, no doubt ably supported by Razaleigh and the like, are obtained from solely-Malay sources. Until then, remember, it is our money that you now have the cheek to seek for the needs of just one community.

After lying low tail between his legs, the two-bit political migrant from Russia emerges again in another sick attempt to earn admiration from the lost and foolish. Again, he is bringing the country closer to the racial cauldron.

Why is he being granted “mercy and compassion” when he should be roped in for causing widespread tensions? He also should be arrested and charged for the same kind of acts as those who attack police stations and kill policemen. I hope the police do not let him get away. Again.

DonGetMeWrong : This guy think he is above the law. Calling for boycott whenever he deem a democratic viewpoint is an insult to Malays.

He is not the law and Mkini or Andrew Sia need not apologise. The world do not revolved around Malays. NM has been insulted for decades.

MarioT : Apartheid is a policy that is founded on the idea of separating people based on race or ethnic criteria. So the description that given is the truth and nothing but the truth.
