Hindu symbol desecration: Tamim claims ignorance, activist says it was clearly a temple site

Malaysiakini : Self-described land activist Tamim Dahri Abdul Razak has claimed ignorance over allegations that he had desecrated a Hindu symbol. Taking to Facebook last night, he claimed to have thought that the object he was filmed stepping on was just a rusty piece of metal in an unoccupied land clearing.

However, an Indian community activist disputed his assertions. According to Tamim, the incident took place in Langkawi, during his visit a few days ago to relieve work stress. "I rented a car and drove around the island. Until I reached a place near the caves, I stopped to visit.

"The place was full of wild monkeys, which I fed. At the same time, I saw a sharp steel rod. It didn't cross my mind that it was a religious symbol, considering it was just a rusty, sharp piece of metal. "It was not a place of worship; there was no building and the surrounding area was a clearing," he said.

He added that removing dangerous objects from a patch was an act of charity Tamim also attached an image from Indian rights activist Arun Dorasamy showing a plain three-pronged metal rod - which Hindu groups said was a sacred trident or soolam - and compared it to a more intricate version of the sacred object. In the video, Tamim himself posted stepping on the object, he had put a caption saying it was a "leisure activity" (aktiviti masa lapang).

Politicians are Parasites : The pattern is very clear. Claim ignorance. Declare mentally unstable. Release immediately. But when the desecration of the Quran, immediate arrest. Immediate charge, JAIL. The double standards have to stop. The Rakyat are getting impatient & the situation is getting bad to worse.

GrayEagle1207 : Ignorance is not an excuse, according to Jamal 2.0, JAKIM, and Islamic defenders in Malaysia. The example of an Arabic word for God was ignorantly printed and sold in Supermarkets in Malaysia caused uproar and triggered the Muslim community, demanding swift and stern action. 

The indifference, lack of attention and action by law enforcement will continue to fester resentment, dissatisfaction and distrust among marginalized groups. Hope the marginalized groups does not resort to taking things into their own hands to restore balance, due to the lack of justice, equality and rights among the marginalized.

Ive noticed a gradual shift in tone and language in Malaysiakini to be more pro-Malay. Unsurprising since many Malays subscribe to Ketuanan Melayu thinking, even if sub-consciously. Only very few Malays are like Zaid Malek, Rafizi, or Syerleena.

On the Other Hand : Absolutely true. Mkini editors remove facts about Islam which they are uncomfortable with the general public finding out. Understanding what the terms Kafir, Dhimmi and Jizyah are essential for non-muslims to understand what Islam is really about. Why are MKini editors afraid off the truth?

Is he going to take a video of himself throwing kitchen refuse every night and share on social media? He is insulting the intelligence of the authorities.

Dr Suresh Kumar : The fact that this guy had the temerity to record his vile behaviour then upload it speaks volumes of his intention but haven't the ca.ones to admit it. Just feign ignorance and walk away. Imagine if it was the other way round. What goes around comes around!
